Evidently his family did not endeavor to send him to a proper finishing school, as was amply evident in his appalling behavior of last night...why, he didn't even use the drink coaster I placed on the table! The poor thing must have been raised by a pack of ravenous wolves. Tonight's lesson: That's a shrimp fork, not a fingernail pick; you filthy beast." My goodness, the New Year's Gala is just weeks away!

| Renewing an old post I remembered that someone had started this thread a few months ago, and I was surprised it didn't get more responses. "Down With Love" with Renee Zellweger and Ewan Mcgregor. Her character's apartment had cute pink womb chairs. His character's apartment was a more masculine danish modern. Crappy movie, but Ewan McGregor. Hmmmm, hmmmm 🙂 Of course, he's not as good looking or as talented as Russell Crowe . . . . Somebody wrap Russell Crowe up and stick him under my fake blue Christmas tree! I recently came across a movie called "Breezy ... | |||||

I didn't find the percentage value for precisely 6'. My point? Furniture is never going to be designed for people 6' and over in the US. Therefore, search for those more generously proportioned pieces that suit your frame. Sadly, this leaves many 'design classics' out of the running. But the good news is chaise-ended sofas are popular now and are a great option. Finally, as a footnote to ...

| KRP, You are simply wrong to ... KRP, You are simply wrong to claim that it is somehow significant that I 'didn't acknowledge' Eileen Grays's sexuality. For a start she wasn't a lesbian but bisexual, with her most significant relationship, both professional (and arguably personal) with a man, Jean Badovici. Anyway I fail to see how her bisexuality could possibly be the most significant thing about her. Far more interesting is that someone who was born in the 1870s, was female and Irish, though she lived most of her life in France, was so very talented both in architecture and design. This is not exactly common. | |||||

| From Toronto Just to let you know, beware of any knockoffs from China. The majority of the Barcelona chairs in this town came from mainland China. They are horrendeous. Someone suggested UpCountry. Forget it! When I was inquiring about a Corb LC2 they were clueless...didn't know if the leather was bovine or waterbuffalo. Try www.classicsdomain.com, they have been helpful. I'm still looking into their wares. If anyone has had any experience with them let me know. | |||||

I also have a 'real' HM Nelson Bench. I got it at an incredible value through an architect friend of mine, so I didn't pay even half of list. But, I might have. The piece is flawlessly constructed, truly it is worth more than what I paid. For me it's about the quality of the piece and the repect given to it's original design. Otherwise I'm going to buy something that ...

Now the city where I live tends to have more thinking and liberal people than the rest of the state, but my surrounding towns are littered with simple minded, prejudiced, god ol fashioned white christians. I can't believe everything there is to say about Jesus, bc the Bible was written by men. I cannot live to the standards of the people in my society. I am colorblind, have no problem ...

| Modernica is quality Hi I am a machinist, a designer, and builder of metal and wood items. I see no big problems with the CSU from Modernica. didn't they make it for Herman Miller at one time? HM jobbed this piece out and only offers it one way, two color choices, and thats not so modular. I think Modernica bought the rights to reintroduce the Eames items. I don't call that theft! So why wouldn't the Eames like to see their design used and loved no matter who made it? Their wood is 13 layer Baltic plywood, its a good grade cabinet plywood from the Baltic ar ... | |||||

| A over-used classic Hello everyone. I do believe the Barcelona Chair is the all time classic chair. I used to lust for one on my living room, but I'm now glad that I didn't pay an arm and a leg for it, 1) unless you want your home to look like the waiting room of Budget Airlines 2) Its the most over-used classic chair and most copied. Its like a LV handbag, no one can be sure if yours is the real thing (in my part of the world at least) 3) Its a design 'no brainer'. Any design wannabe can get one, there's nothing special about it anymore. Instead, I prefer t ... | |||||

I think an employee may have taken the chair out of the office to use outside on her lunch break and didn't bring it back in. When I got home, a little research told me I snagged myself a true gem. The chair retained all it's original labels, older Knoll/New York sticker on the bottom, dated delivery labels, and the rare, no longer produced wooden legs. No tears or stains to this lit ...
