| How is the back applied ? Whoever made this piece knew how to veneer those drawer edges, but didn't think it mattered. Curious. What sort of drawer slides are there -- wood on wood, of maple or other smooth hardwood ? Or are there dados cut directly into that plywood ? | |||||
| I was right! | 1 Relevance | 16 years ago | Spanky | General discussion | |
| ... same to a family in a third world country so that the kids could read and do homework in the evenings after the sun went down. It seemed like a nice idea. I was aware that I was buying a $10 lamp and paying for another $10 lamp to donate, rather than buying a $19.95 lamp for my son--but whatever! I liked the colors and the design. And it worked nicely, though it didn't serve his needs too well and I ended up giving it to Goodwill. I still like it, though. | |||||

| ... all they get right. I didn't feel this way, but I could see someone reacting in one of the aforementioned ways. And I can see the point that a private message would be more appreciated by most - so as not to cause public embarrassment or even the bother of having to publicly apologize and/or defend oneself The very action of publicly pointing out an error can also be seen as being a know-it-all and of using such an opportunity to illustrate that. It pays to err on the side of careful politeness. But then again, I have been guilty of the same. | |||||

| Thank you! Thanks so much. It's definitely a Bassett. I've never used this forum before, and I didn't imagine that I would get an answer so fast. You are really knowledgeable. | |||||
| That makes sense | 1 Relevance | 16 years ago | whitespike | General discussion | |
| That makes sense However, I didn't sand much - just enough to slightly rough up the finish so the epoxy had something to grab onto. Plan of action: I'm going to use the stuff I just ordered. But I contacted HM and they will repair for $115, which isn't bad. I will go that route if it pops off again. It only took a couple of months to shake loose, so I am guessing it'll fail sooner than later if it's going to at all. | |||||

Stained glass along the top and metal work all the way down. Got one for about $120 which was half off what they were originally prices at. didn't need both of them as my front door is an interior door. Only my back door opens to the outside. I also got a Thonet chair from them for $15. Still has the sticker and everything. It had no original price on it. The owner didn ...

| Whitespike - still a little m... Whitespike - still a little miffed about a comment you made (an off-topic one, at that) a couple weeks ago. Or not so much at the comment, but that when I called you out, you didn't simply apologize. But it isn't that big of a deal and it was petty of me to resurrect it. | |||||

| Design is about fulfilling requirements. So how can design be discussed intelligently without discussing requirements? Apparently, SDR didn't consider requirement #3 too sacred a subject to talk about, but you do. Understood. | |||||
| Really WHC? | 1 Relevance | 16 years ago | whitespike | General discussion | |
| Really WHC? So me asking very specific questions about table design (reread) and changing the topic to the "entitled generation" is not a topic derailer? I didn't not ask to have my mind changed to a sharp cornered table, or have it changed as to how I raise my kid. I know what I want. I am simply asking how to get it. And you are only feeding into it by defending the stance. If you cannot answer the questions asked specifically, I would respectfully ask that you start your own thread. I am actually looking for information here. And no, my parents diD NOT ch ... | |||||

I will be brave and post my kitchen. It's a new-build eat-in kitchen, and I didn't choose the cabinets, appliance color, layout, floor or counter. We did paint and add the tile. Although I would have picked something different, I'm OK with what we got. I can't justify the expense of replacing new, so I worked with what I got. I would like a new light, but I haven't found anything ...
