| ... I believe there are payment terms in the auction that he has to abide by (even if you didn't write any) and if he is changing the terms after the auction ends then I think you are in the clear as far as getting your FVF back. But do check. I haven't had to do this in awhile and they don't spell it all out until you start a claim. Good luck! http://pages.ebay.com/help/sell/cancel-transaction-process.html | |||||

| eBay If you didn't state in your listing that payment upon pick-up is an option, then the buyer is required to pay for the item first per eBay guidelines. I see no good reason to waver from this position. | |||||

| Well We are talking thousands here so don't think it's worth the gamble. I guess I really didn't think it through. I am so used to buying stuf and just immediately paying so I figured that's what all do. Spanky et al.......appreciate your continued advice. | |||||

| ... that pic and instantly thought WTF - so I added it to the thread. So much awful "upcycled" crap is out there rt now I didn't even question it. My hate of French provincial and overwrought Louis XV style furniture knows no bounds, so when I saw it combined with what I thought was an actual piece of the Lane cubist stuff I like I was horrified. I admit the sandblasted grain on the faux antique side is cool, but that's the only thing I can say positive about it. As an originally designed piece, IMO, it's trying way too hard. However, Im sure others will disag ... | |||||

| ... know who designed it? And denizens of the forum offer help and even do research and then bingo! Turns out to be a dealer who just wanted to know what it was before listing it on Ebay. That's why. But you didn't put on an act like that. You just didn't mention right off the bat that you needed to know so that you could sell the thing. That's all. | |||||

| Yes there was but I've encountered the same lack of help and humor when I've started a post. (whatever OP is suppose to mean) Very little of the subsequent posts helped Ssean at all with his question. I tried to do just that. I just didn't think his basic question was grounds for humor. Nothing ventured, right, bub? | |||||

| Not quite, most pattern is ch... Not quite, most pattern is charged with different meaning in different contexts, using the above example it appears in adult films all the time, its not solely utilitarian and connotes sex, masculinity, violence...all sorts of things. If artists and designers didn't use received perceptions of things how would they communicate? Whats a graphic of clouds? Is it pollution? If the sky is a little dull or a little bright how does that affect the perception of the image? If something is 'just' paint or 'just' sound does that put M ... | |||||

| Heath Honestly, it didn't have any deeper meaning to me. I mean, yeah, I got that it was military-THEMED... But it didn't occur to me to see it as MILITARISED. Does that make sense? I guess I'm just not sensitive to that particular stimulus. | |||||

| Robert1960 [eta: pirx pilot] Your photos didn't show up because the link you put in the photo link field of the message was for the Flickr page where the photo was located. You have to enter the URL of the actual photo, not a webpage. Does that make sense? Back to Dansk--when I first went to Illums Bolighus in Copenhagen in 1991 or 1992, there was a huge selection of staved teak products on display. It was on the right side of the store on the ground floor in front, in case anyone else remembers. I remember perusing the stuff for a long time, trying to ... | |||||

| Thank you Woodywood, I think they're beautiful too. I find the more common version to have a little more flex and padding, and consequently be slightly more comfortable. But I do love the chair, and look forward to having it recovered. Ankh1980, thank you so much for your good detective work! I didn't think about tracing the address and name change. I'm glad to be able to put a general date to its production. | |||||

| ... othe Jere piece I wasn't sure of the age but was positive it was at least 30 plus years old. Having dealt with far to many vintage pieces there just no mistaking the heavy dust and gummy stuff between the crevices that builds up after decades in a home. The patina and heavy tarnish on some pieces, ESP the backs where no one bothered to clean or polish regularly also matches up to decades of existence. I must say the piece posted above that is similar to mine looks far shinnier and newer - maybe they just had the piece cleaned and polished. The spheres and a ... | |||||

| Oh as for origins I know it... Oh as for origins I know it came from Maine - so northeast US. It was an eBay find the seller knew nothing about it and was actually asking people on the sale page if they could offer any info. I'm so glad they didn't know it was Jere because it would have cost a lot more and I'm sure putting Jere in the sale post would have attracted far more buyers for it. Now it makes sense why the dealer I contacted offered to buy it. I'll give him credit he did say it "could" be early Jere but I know think he KNEW it was since that's the m ... | |||||

| SDR Regulation that affects all makers equally isn't so bad... But I see what you're saying. Sorry for being unclear; I was tired when I wrote that, so I didn't adequately separate "the government wants us to buy energy-efficient appliances" from "our society wants [i.e., we consumers want] energy-efficient appliances and a whole bunch of other things including fashion and convenience". | |||||
