| ... "Glam huh? Ya, I like Blondie. I like LED watches." I guess that's what I like. Everything that was glamorous from those era's. The collecting deal is really a disease. I'd like to think our kind isn't as bad as someone who collects old TV guides and used newspapers, but its still very tough to pass up a good bargain, or something you feel you just can't live without. My comment about the blue room was really unnecessary. At the time I was so fixated on the retro stuff we were looking at, I didn't even stop to think that it was a hollywood regency glam setu ... | |||||

Some things didn't bring as much, but others went way beyond the estimates. It's funny that from my research, they (and everyone else) call him a sculpter, except the only one place I've ever heard him not called one. http://3st.com/work/wright-bertoia-book#1 http://americanart.si.edu/exhibitions/online/bertoia/bertoiaslide.html https://www.google.com/search?q=bertoia+sculpter ...

| I thought about her too, seeing the pics, but I think it's a direvitive design. You didn't buy the lot together? The sofa seemed cool (but maybe to much work, upholstery-wise). Was the table marked on the underside? Are there marks on the bottom of your chair? | |||||

| Greetings *spanky*. I suspect that is the problem. I just didn't want any "brush marks", and because the primer dries so quickly, adding the Flotral gave me a little more time to smooth the coats out. I probably shouldn't have added it. Maybe I will decoupage the mantle top in snappies of vintage naked ladies, and pictures of raw meat. Just a thought, Aunt Mark ps the surface is quite dry to the touch...but quite tender. | |||||

| Well it looks like we really did a number over in that grossman thread... Glad mine didn't go like that. As odd as it sounds, I don't let people into my private life much. I don't mind the business side, but I pretty much keep to myself with my inside belongings. I could only take so much bashing of that poor little porcelain owl before I decided to show a small glimpse of a few of my personal possessions. I would tell him someone just ripped on him again, and he always replies: Who..Who..? So I know he's upset, and I must avenge him. Why not though, I thoug ... | |||||

| Not to change the subject I used to professionally design high-end audio both commercially and residentially. Before that, I was a professional sound engineer. When compact disc players first came out, Consumer Reports wrote ( I am paraphrasing) that cd players sounded better than vinyl, (When comparing comparable compact disc players with turntable/cartridge combinations across the board, that was not true) and that all cd players sounded the same (also a fallacy) so one should only purchase cd players based on features. Because of this evaluation by th ... | |||||

You will probably have to cut the threaded rod with a hacksaw unless you luck out and the purchased length happens to be perfect, but other than that it's very basic stuff. (And the hacksawing isn't hard either but I guess if you didn't already have a hacksaw it'd be more complicated.) Oh wait, you also need one of those brass cap things at the top to cover the opening in the "vase". That might be tougher to find in just the right size but i'm sure online places will have a good selection. ps - vintage shades are often not in ...

In the old house we bought in Denmark, the bedroom that my sweet little son chose just REEKED of cigars. And one corner of the room had a dark brown streak of something running down the wall. I don't know if it was just a weird roof leak or if it had something to do with the cigar smell, but I didn't take any chances. I painted the crap out of it with shellac, like 2-3 coats, and then p ...

| Again, I think it depends somewhat on the type of wool as far as felting. I've washed and dried smaller ones in machines and they didn't felt much, if at all. I still have the large, super-thick one that I talked about in this thread a few years back and have not washed it again since that wading pool session but it also has not gotten hardly any foot traffic since then. But I had a horrible time getting it dry in the Maryland summer weather the first time---took many days to dry and by the third day there was algae growing in it, or something! Ew. I've ... | |||||

| Solange I know what you said. I was kidding. Loosen up. Unstrap the helmet. Wipe the glum look off your face. I didn't have the time to get into a little cat fight with you. I've got a lot cooking. Do you know what I'm up against here? I'm in the middle of an all day, every day major battle with 5 times my equal. I'm in the process of buying a second computer, and hiring a post double so I can keep up with everyone, so stop being so greedy. I'll get to you when I can. But thanks for your insult though. That was nice...:) I appreciate you jumping in, and foll ... | |||||

| Hmm... Great question. I'll leave the bad design vs. ugly question open to interpretation. I'd be interested to learn if there a product that the Eames tried to make and didn't have much luck with it. Sort of like how the HM Management Group shell chairs never really took off. | |||||

I personally don't care for your piece but I wouldn't be discouraged by the fact that the aboved mentioned artist didn't know who made it. I like the mystery though and for that reason I'll make another guess, its a child who copied their parents pastel from memory which I think is something.

| . If there is is still teak grain everywhere then he didn't sand through. There is a funny light patch right of the most obvious ink stain in the photo that looks like it might be particle board. If you are very lucky he didn't sand through. But usually something gets dumped when someone thinks the piece is solid wood and goes at it with a sander and starts seeing particle board and realizes they have just screwed up, badly. First step would be to make sure you still have teak veneer showing everywhere. If you don't the options are not pleasant: faux pain ... | |||||
