| Yea,happy with my Noguchi table,so I really didn't pursue it However, had I the vehicle and the room to store it,I would have pulled the trigger.Frankly,I don't think it's that impressive a piece.ALthough, with a large room and some Barcelona chairs around it.... | |||||

| I didn't ask for that, it's what they wanted on eBay Their alternative was to take it to the skip. It's the 2nd time this year that I have found something amazing that was destined for the scrapheap. I guess some people just love Ikea? | |||||

| Mies didn't design the Spolet... Mies didn't design the Spoleto, sorry I think we are at cross purposes and I just woke up 🙂 Mies however did design the chair above for the Stuttgart housing exhibition in 1926 I think? MR10. Maybe its a copy, I don't know, was the label just a tag from the shop or a proper Knoll tag? No I'm wrong, he came up with the semicircular curve after seeing Stams chair, there was lots of fighting about this...I'm not at home so can't refer to any books about it sorry, yes there is coffee in me now and I see your point. | |||||

| He didn't steal he got it for a steal. Mind you, your $60 offer would have been a steal too, if the seller had gone for it 🙂 | |||||
| You didn't say | 2 Relevance | 15 years ago | Riki | General discussion | |
| You didn't say how much you paid in your original post, so it is impossible to say for sure if the paint diminished the value. I wouldn't pay more than about 140 USD for that piece, painted or not. They are a dime a dozen. So, if you paid $10 for it you are ahead of the game, so to speak. | |||||

| The one photo I found didn't... The one photo I found didn't lead anywhere other than to other those sites that compile search results, and I didn't see the photo on any of the actual sites so I think it has long since been deleted. I would guess that it's early 1960s. I'm old enough to remember furniture from that time, and I think it took until the early 60s for the Danish Modern look to be mass produced in the US. Maybe late 1950s at the earliest. I used to have some old JC Penney and Sears catalogs from that era and they had furniture like this. | |||||

| Aw geez, I didn't mean to derail it either! But thanks for the felicitations, all. And a belated Feliz Cumpleanos to you, Fastfwd. And yes, Alan is a really neat neighbor and a lovely guy. His work is SO iconic of my teenager-hood. Captain Fantastic was al lthe rage when I was in high school. By the time I hit college I was more about the Sex Pistols and The English Beat so I really enjoyed Aldridge's more macbre stuff, then. Whitespike will likely disown me but I have never ever been a Beatles fan. | |||||
| I foolishly didn't buy a | 2 Relevance | 15 years ago | gene | General discussion | |
| I foolishly didn't buy a similar set, but with six chairs (four legged) and the table with the leaf. It was $1500 and I should have bought it just to flip it. They are going for over $3000 these days. Have to say, I have seen these dining sets become extremely popular and going for a lot of money lately, and I just don't get it. I understand it is clever that the chairs fit into the table, but does that really offer such a great advantage? And I don't think either the table or the chairs are especially stylish. Am I missing something? | |||||

| Thanks. Sorry I didn't explai... Thanks. Sorry I didn't explain the reason of my inquiry. The four photos are pieces I have at home. I don't know who designed them or when. My house guests ask and I don't have an answer. I would like to have one. | |||||
| Sorry for those dirty limericks. | 2 Relevance | 15 years ago | william-holden-... | General discussion | |
| Sorry for those dirty limericks. I don't often work blue, but the idea of dirty limericks engraved on Arne Jacobson's Cylinda line seemed absurdly funny enough to risk it. (Hope I didn't offend the delicate sensibilities of any DA'ers.) | |||||

| uhh not lying I didn't buy... uhh not lying I didn't buy it. I wanted to find a buyer for it before I bought it. I didn't want to be stuck with it. In the end I couldn't find a buyer at even 700. I went back to the thrift store and a dealer bought it and put it in the antique store down town for like 150 more than he paid.. kinda stupid if you ask me considering time, transportation, and the fact that he had to split his commission with the store. anyways back to these chairs bro... also the larry bird thing is brilliant. | |||||
