| maybe its an assignment for a design class (?) She didn't give us much to go on, other than to say she was a student. If it is an assigned project to re design a classic (or re design a classic with issues) then it would be hard to fault her for doing her project. Unless her name was Ray. Or she liked veal. | |||||

| I hope you get your money back A reasonable and reliable seller would take it back, no questions asked. If she indeed bought like that she should be embarrassed she didn't inspect the item more thoroughly. Especially since she is supposedly an expert. The paint job is very obvious from your pictures. If she did it herself in a restoration job, that should have been disclosed. Nail polish is not ceramic glaze. That is just disgusting. Have you seen it before in that color combo? From my eyes, looks like it was painted pink to go in a teenagers bedroom in a ... | |||||

I don't get many chances at the super rare clocks, and feel very lucky that I happened to have a tradable find that the person wanted. The guy I traded with was extremely reliable, so I knew it was real. But its still nice to have that confirmation from you, as I know you know your stuff regarding Nelson clocks. I have enjoyed looking at your clocks for many years on this forum! I am not sure if I have seen your ... | |||||

| ... I probably won't find a buyer for a long time, and I'll have a chance to enjoy the chair for awhile. Even if I never get a buyer, that's ok. But if I do get a buyer, I can buy different pieces that I'm also excited about. Is this so horrible? Isn't that what most collectors do all the time? Trade up valuable pieces in their collections to acquire other pieces that they want? I thought that all sorts of people solicit advice on this forum ? dealers, hobbyists, enthusiasts, collectors, and amateurs. I appreciated all of the advice that I was given here, ... | |||||

| ... luminosity! And a thin transparent layer of color would indeed be a great way to tip the white in Mark's painting towards a warmer or more varied color of "white". But then again, it could be a slippery slope to start messing around with the painting. Even if only because Mark would know exactly what moves were his, it might change how the painting feels as a "found object". As found, the painting has a certain integrity as a set of decisions, for better or for worse, and there is a certain historical moment that it reflects along with all those moves. I va ... | |||||

| Yeah, I know Those 670 Police are lurking everywhere kin. Didn't I see you driving by my house one day last week in a white unmarked van? All I know is that the license plate read "KIN 670", and there was a telescope sticking out of the window as it slowed in front of my place. Then it sped off. I know the sharks are circling. I can feel it. An offer is coming. | |||||
| chickens? | 1 Relevance | 13 years ago | Eameshead | General discussion | |
| chickens? But Mark, what would you raise in the back yard to provide an ongoing supply of red meat? I once had a painting teacher who had his own cow. He didn't want to have to mow his vast 2 acre lot, so he bought a cow. The cow's name was HOLLIS. When I was a starving grad student, I painted his kitchen screaming yellow, with even more screaming yellow trim. And green glass 40's cabinet handles. He liked color. The bathroom was PINK. But I digress. Hope everybody's doing okay! | |||||

| ... a top made for a metal base coffee table that I got for a few bucks at an auction (Florence Knoll-y). The guys were just finishing up a wenge countertop for some very lucky person's kitchen. I gasped. Then they told me the price per square foot and I choked. But damn, it was beautiful. I picked out some lovely jatoba instead. Side note: I sped up the darkening process by setting it outside in the summer sun every day. In just a week it went from that raw pinkish color to a deep burgundy. I lived with it for about a year but ultimately decided that i ... | |||||
| thanks for pics! | 1 Relevance | 13 years ago | Eameshead | General discussion | |
| thanks for pics! sorry I didn't see these pictures as I was editing my last post. I am certain that both of those bases are the lounge base. The 1956 H lounge is a beautiful and hard to find base, and among my all time favorites, but a swivel glide MAX remains a mythical figure in Eames lore for now. | |||||
