| Can anyone help identify my mid-century modern sofa?? | 1 Relevance | 16 years ago | tlmartin | General discussion | |
| I bought this a year ago on CL and up until a couple days ago, had never seen another like it. The family I bought it from didn't have a clue about it other than it was kept in their game room since "forever". / | |||||

| I've been breaking my brain (it didn't take long...) trying to think of ways to build an entertainment system in my living rooms. I'm not worried about my TV but my turntable, receiver, cd player, and speakers. I am buying most of the components now, I am looking for some speaks with a retro feel, but always get overwhelmed when it comes to audio (and I'm a trained electrician!). I'm no audiophile. I could liten to music out of a coffee can if I liked the song. Would anyone care to post pictures of what they have done? Or just help a lost soul that lost ... | |||||

| Chair ID - curious | 1 Relevance | 18 years ago | dorieg | Identification | |
| Ok, before I get jumped, I am not buying the chairs, and not trying to hit some MCM jackpot. I saw these on CL and was curious. I did a little internet research and didn't turn up anything. I am just trying to learn. Does anyone know anything about these chairs? They look like some bastardization of a Wegner wishbone/cowhorn, and Alto stool (legs). Yet nowhere as beautiful or well crafted as either. Is this just a chap knock-off? Without seeing them in person it is hard for me to tell, are all the screws an indication that they are not that well made? ... | |||||
| Wall unit box cabinet? | 1 Relevance | 16 years ago | flyingpatricio | General discussion | |
| I found this today at Recycle Reuse in A2. Thought it to look about the size of my Royal Cado wall unit, but it's not. It looks like Rosewood on top, but different on the front and sides. There are 4 holes on each side of the box that look to be where it could be mounted to something. The only markings are on the magnetic stop...Vavec-Milano, Made in Italy. I figured it worth the $15 to see if I could use it in some way if it didn't fit the Cado. Dimensions: 27 3/4"(w)x16"(t)x14 3/4"(d) Anyone have any clues? http://d1t1u890k7d3ys.cloudfront.net/cdn/farfutu ... | |||||

I bought them from someone who claimed they were special, but I didn't pay a special price for them. | ... touched cause refinishing them is always a bad idea. Also I made sure the leather guy didn't ruin the classic crunchy black leather look. All the metal was polished and the feet where cleaned and all the parts where re-oiled for a longer life. The guy told me the shock-mounts where in great shape, he said to make them last longer, just add some wood epoxy to the already glued mounts, and I did just that. It cost 600$ for the restore and 250$ for the chair. thats about the price of one of those crappy knock offs! so I am pretty happy about it. here are the p ... | |||||

| How to not remove paint on back of a Fiberglass Eames Shell | 1 Relevance | 16 years ago | Orleans USA | General discussion | |
| Well, in a previous post, I saw the word Acetone when someone suggested removing the paint on back of a fiberglass shell. I tried that. didn't work. I went to a local hardware store and bought paint thinner. I tried that. That didn't work. I went back to the hardware store and said, "Hardware store guy, gimme something strong. Stronger than paint thinner." His reply was the devil. "Sir, you probably need the heavy duty stuff. Try this hear solvent we like to call Jasco. Don't leave it on long though. This stuff's tough. | Info on small dresser? | 1 Relevance | 18 years ago | dorieg | General discussion | |
| I was watching this dresser on ebay. The form, size, price and quality made it a desirable piece for my kids room. However, the seller pulled the listing. I didn't think it looked like anything special but ... now that it was pulled, I am wondering if it was really more valuable. There were also other problems with the listing making it very confusing, perhaps that is why. A simple yea or nay as to the pedigree on this one would be much appreciated. http://www.flickr.com/photos/65944446@N00/2763090958/ | |||||

| Light with Tulip Table | 1 Relevance | 16 years ago | John Kh | General discussion | |
| Hello, I purchased Saarinen Tulip table, White Arabesco Marble, white base, oval (198X121X72Cm) and I already have the below light fixture installed in the dining room. The table didn't come yet, but I was wondering whether this fixture goes with the table? Or is it too much for it? I have a feeling that it doesn't go well with it. But my friend said it might be just fine. http://homedesigninterior.com/2009/12/16/brilliant-crystal-lighting-fixtures-for-elegant-interior-design/crystal-light-fixtures/ | |||||

| ... with it and I'm picking that up tomorrow afternoon. Can anyone help us with ID-ing it? We have looked everywhere for labels, but there are none to be found. The guy listing it said he was selling it for his daughter, who got it from her in-laws (so they thought it was 1970s). My first thought was Baughman, Knoll, or Probber, but then I was baffled because the cushion shape didn't seem right. It's good quality, really heavy (wood frame), and the foam is in perfect shape. And yes, that's cat hair and house paint slathered on it 🙁 That has to come off be ... | |||||
