| eames prototypes? | 1 Relevance | 12 years ago | bobbob | Identification | |
| Hi,A while ago I actually garbage picked four chairs at the side of the road. I recognized them immediately as Eames chairs. There was an armshell, two side shells with legs, and one side shell with no legs. They looked dirty and beat but I decided to grab them anyway. When I turned the side shell over I noticed that this was an x base but is completely different! What are these? They are Eames shells, and the dimensions of the tubing, the shock mounts, screws, are right on. The glue used on the side shells even looks like the same as on the armshell. I didn ... | |||||
| Early Eames Lounge Chair | 1 Relevance | 12 years ago | Denmobler | Identification | |
| So I bought this eames lounge chair about 6 months ago and it has some strange things going on. I eamiled HM about it and they seem puzzled and ended up saying part of it is real and part of it is fake. I really wasn't happy with there response as it didn't make sense. So I did some more research and I found some interesting info. The chair I have has no clips for the cushions, instead in the back panels there are snap buttons in place of the clips. There isn't holes or any evidence of clips being there. On the seat and ottoman there is only butto ... | |||||
| fake Georg Jensen rocking chair | 1 Relevance | 12 years ago | NULL NULL | Identification | |
| dear friends, I need your help. I just put a deposit on a jensen rocker - got too excited finding it on craigslist that I failed to verify authenticity. When I compare it to images online it doesnt look right - too many screws, no buttons and upholstery is higher at top edge than teak. did I just put in money for a fake? It wasn't cheap too - $375. I didn't think there were replicas of this chair around. Please help! Thanks for your time. | |||||
| Pink Pottery Chickens.... | 1 Relevance | 13 years ago | onegroovydude | General discussion | |
| Well, since we're on the subject of design, I got these pottery chickens a little while back at the flea market, and really liked the lines, colors, and I guess overall design of them. They were signed, which was kinda cool, but I didn't know by who. Since I don't know everything, I'm wondering what your thoughts are? I'm always curious now. | |||||

| Signed Hans Wegner table? | 1 Relevance | 13 years ago | Cdev5 | General discussion | |
| ... the impression that he didn't design many tables, so maybe just the basic description, time frame and company is enough to go on if you're more of an expert in Danish design than me (not hard). Does anyone know what year this might be? It's in excellent condition. Thank you in advance for any thoughts or advice.... | |||||
| Eames 670 and 671. Real? Grain structure? | 1 Relevance | 12 years ago | Hal10000 | Identification | |
| ... at least according to my small amount of research. The chair seems authentic to me, but perhaps I'm missing something the more knowledgable folks out there can see. Also, I was wondering about the two distinct lines across the back of the chair. In person I didn't really notice it, but they kinda pop out in the photos I took after reviewing on my computer. Is that just the grain of the wood? Does it look like it's damanged? It didn't seem damaged there. In fact, she pointed out a piece in the plywood on the top left corner (looking at it from t ... | |||||
| Paul McCobb Credenza -- refinish or not? | 1 Relevance | 12 years ago | DMarie T | General discussion | |
| Hello,New to this forum and hope to learn as I just started purchasing a few items.I recently purchased a Paul McCobb Planner Group credenza,. Unfortunately, the seller used Watco Danish Oil to "restore" it (he didn't strip, etc. -- just put the oil on top and wiped off).. The finish is full of small bubbles and feels very rough. I guess he was trying to cover up the small scratches in the surface and brighten it up. Otherwise the piece is in very good shape (no dents, no major/deep scratches, no integrity issues). ... | |||||
| Removing old tinted furniture polish from oiled wood? | 1 Relevance | 12 years ago | Spanky | General discussion | |
| Has anyone else run into this problem? I recently got chairs from two different sources that needed cleaning and oiling and seats rewoven. No problem with the seats but the wood looked really dark and dull. One set was teak and the other two were oak. When I was going over the wood with teak oil and #0000 steel wool, LOTS of the dark color immediately came off. I had never come across anything like this but a friend in the business suggeseted it might be Old English furniture polish, which apparently comes in---or used to come i ... | |||||
| *sigh* Etsy failure 🙁 | 1 Relevance | 12 years ago | Cloudburst2000 | General discussion | |
| In early January, I purchased a Povl dinesen cabinet and a Povl dinesen mirror with shelf from RevolverStudioNW. They had good reviews so I went ahead with the purchase. I kept checking to find out a ship date as it was still listed as 'not shipped'. I emailed them several times with no response. When I went to check on Etsy today, the online store had been closed...uhoh, but I could still see my receipt. There was a contact phone number for their shop, Revolver Vintage, in Seattle, WA so I called the number only to find ... | |||||

| Selig walnut chairs | 1 Relevance | 12 years ago | Wendy Samiljan | Identification | |
| My in-laws have these 2 Selig chairs. They bought them in the 50's and identify them as Selig walnut chairs but, they don't have the metal identification marker on the bottom. I've read elsewhere that early Selig chairs didn't necessarily have the marker. Are these are authentic Selig chairs? Would you fix them up to sell or is it best to let the buyer do that? Thank you for your help. | |||||
