| Teak Extension Table - Dyrlund, Rosengaarden? | 1 Relevance | 6 years ago | mark737 | Identification | |
| ... found some tables online similar to this one, including by Gudme and Dyrlund but I couldn't find this exact model. It's 48" (122cm) in diameter with two 19.75" (50cm) leaves. The edge banding has what appears to be rosewood joints as shown in last photo, something I saw on other tables by Dyrlund. Is that enough to assume it's Dyrlund or did others use this same design? On a humorous note (well, at least I laughed) several online sellers listed tables as by "C.J. Rosengaarden, Hojre" . Hojre is the Danish word for "right", and is marked on one slid ... | |||||

| Yes, will be next to impossible to find one of those original glass shades. You can measure the diameter of the metal ring that holds the shade and start checking your local Habitat Restore (or Urban Ore - one of my favorite spots in the Bay Area)for other shades that might work. Or look online for chimney shades like the one pictured here from Antiquelampsupply. Or talk to a local glass blower and see if you can get something custom made. Attachment: Chim.jpg | |||||

| ... himself with the Good name of Danish furniture. Malleability of spelling is a feature of Danish. The Pedersen family behind Getama started out as Petersen. English has such archaic spellings we have to adhere to an idea of ‘correctness’ to justify any spelling. That is not a universal phenomenon. Willy Beck, Cabinetmaker, also used dowels. There is really nothing wrong with dowels as a construction method. Mortise and tenon is somewhat better but the difference is entirely eroded by using the right diameter, length and spacing for your dowels. | |||||

| @thomaslitt It is entirely possible to make good joinery using dowels. You might find it interesting to study the work of a good cabinetmaker who did use dowels. They require an understanding as to the correct length, diameter, number, placement, to meet the needs of a specific joint. A bad cabinetmaker will get all of that wrong statistically speaking because there are many more bad choices than good. Unfortunately for the reputation of dowel the vast majority of ‘modern furniture’ is poorly made and they have been used poorly in a lot of it. @tktoo2 he ... | |||||
| "Coffee" table | 1 Relevance | 6 years ago | Marijan | Identification | |
| Hi. I am looking to buy this little table. But being a total layman, and in the flood of the all sort of "neo....classical" pieces on the market , I am absolutely unable to tell if this is contemporary antiqued item or decades old worn out piece. And the photos are all I have for now. 83 cm in diameter and 53 cm height. 24 kg (you cant say it is lightweight). I would appreciate any info or suggestion what this may be, in terms of age, origin, ... I am adding few photos (I am not sure how many can I add in one post). Thanks. | |||||

The bottom of the lamp is clear plastic with a lovely bubble pattern. Regards Dan Attachment: IMG_20220122_215644-2.jpg | |||||

| Yeah---gotta go with the flow. It's interesting that an architect would neglect to factor in the weight of his materials; perhaps the base diameter should have been greater ? (Have you ever seen any Tulip piece with a bend at the thinnest part of the stem ? I haven't---yet.) Too bad the marble was flawed. I suppose an irregular-looking material can be assumed to be irregular in its structure, at least some of the time ? I could see a repair that involved a thick piece of glass, waxed, as a work table, the stone brought together upside-down with some bla ... | |||||
| Round Teak Coffee Table | 1 Relevance | 6 years ago | mark737 | Identification | |
| I picked up this round teak coffee table with bentwood pedestal base a few days ago. It's 110cm (43.3") in diameter and 56cm (22") high. The only other example I could find so far was a photo on Pinterest of a beechwood version saved by a Swedish classified ad website in the category of Swedish furniture. Unfortunately the link to the listing is now dead. Anyone know who designed or made this one? Thanks. Attachment: STT1.jpg Attachment: STT2.jpg | |||||
