| 3 cheaper: buy directly from... 3 cheaper: buy directly from artists (via Etsy) Etsy is the Ebay for handmade goods & artisans. | WHC, I wasn't responding directly to the set break-up issue | 2 Relevance | 18 years ago | Big Television Man | General discussion | |
| WHC, I wasn't responding directly to the set break-up issue but rather the issue of purity, integrity and perhaps greater gain in the future where a poster stated as an "absolute rule of thumb", do whatever to make $$$'s. Yes a person can do anything they want with their chairs, sell em one by one, break them up and part them out, but as Riki said, sometimes the integrity of a set can be more desirable and ultimately more valuable. Personally, I once had been alerted to a set of two side tables for either side of the bed, they would have been perfect. Before ... | |||||

| The code to add an image directly in your post I just finally figured this out, and it comes in handy when you want to add more than 3 images at once. [IMG src="--IMAGE LINK HERE--"] replacing ONLY the --IMAGE LINK HERE-- portion with the URL of where the image is stored AND substituting the brackets [] with these symbols: for example: would the the image link you would substitute, whatever your link actually is (this one is for example only) | |||||

| First, correctly spell dissertation...Pt. 3 I suspect that if you go back through architecture/design histories and investigate certain analogous period you will either find the kind of vocabulary of asymmetry I am talking about, or you will find something else akin to it that you, a designer, might be far better able to characterise that me, a layman. Another conceptualization of what's going on (it less directly builds off Venturi's thought) that intrigues me is: simplicity and complexity in architecture and design. I find myself almost daily simultaneousl ... | |||||

| You can sit directly on the... You can sit directly on the bare ground in the nude thats minimal! To my mind a headboard is very far from minimal but there are many people who cannot do without it, even those who consider themselves minimal modernists .I think an armchair compares to a mattress and boxsprings .My combo comment is primarily aimed at bookcase headboards.A side chair( an armless chair)is a stool with a back? | |||||

| @mvc’s table design was sold in early FDB catalogs and is also identifiable as a Fritz Hansen made piece by the formatting of the model number. I think I’ve also maybe seen it in old Messenger catalogs identified directly as FH. Someone posted it to this forum years ago and I never forgot it even though I never could find the post again!). The teak and oak combo is also consistent with that time period. And the lack of a FH stamp indicates that it was sold by a retailer. | |||||
| Disassemble a Time Life Lobby Chair | 2 Relevance | 5 years ago | speculoos_spread | Repair | |
| Hi there, I'm trying to dissemble my Time Life Lobby Chair so I can get the cushions reupholstered. Unfortunately, I'm running into 2 issues in the process: I can't figure out how to remove the armrests. It's my understanding that I should be able to just "push" forward and they'll detach, but neither one will budge at all. I can't figure out how to remove the base. This isn't the executive desk chair version, so it doesn't have the obvious tilt mechanism on the underside. It's basically just a pole that runs from the legs directly into the seat base. | I do not dislike... the approximative way of indicating the time, but I prefer Masayuki Kurokawa's watch on the same dutch site. As to the original subject. It is a well written and interesting story. Steven Bayley was the first director of the London Design Museum and has with it's major sponsor Sir Terence Conran...and co-writter of the book been part of a large part and witnessed the other part of design history. I for my part am going to put the book on a wish list http://www.questodesign.com/shop/proddetail.php?prod=Kiri_watch_idea&cat... | |||||

| I am an Art director... I am an Art director (advertising), so from a professional standpoint, I don't know that I would be qualified to give you guidance (I did once major in Architecture). I do think you're on the right path of self promotion: putting up your portfolio page, and using the internet as a networking tool. I think your portfolio could benefit greatly from including more work- you profess to over 2 decades of professional work, but you have 5, mostly tightly cropped, detail photos to show for it. Where is all of this work you done for 2 decades ... | |||||
