I dont mind the cabinet! Its not for my living room and I'm not passionate about it like plenty of designs on here.

I dont think it's that bad, though. Just the doors are too heavy for the type of hinge. (Which is stupid, no doubt)

Sometimes found objects can be interesting except when I found this wood plank with a bunch of square nails, I have no idea what the original purpose was...

Mini, it's a primitive flax hetchel. Likely 19th C.

Our new CIA Director could probably come up with a use for it.

Cardinal Fang! Brrring the ...FLAX HETCHEL!!!

For that matter, she could probably use the OP's cabinet, too.

A night or two in the box can work wonders.

The item reminds me of an ice box with its thick doors, utilitarian construction of oak, and scale is about right with four compartments. Unglamourous but usable rustic item for the right decor.

Quite so, harry. Only the front-view photo, with its overall pinkish hue and consistent material appearance, convinces the eye that this piece has any value as a decorative object. And at that I would probably discard the top and provide, say, a copper-wrapped slab of similar proportion -- or one painted a pale green ? Then one would have to assess the result, and determine whether feet or a base or plinth were called for.

What you would actually use it for, I cannot say. Maybe keep the dog's food and the kitty litter in it ?

The cabinet should immediately be returned to the woods...with the following additions placed inside.

~some spare change.

~a half smoked pack of Lucky Strikes.

~a naughty magazine (preferably vintage).

~a used shower curtain.

~a half written letter to Jesus.

~Glade air freshener aerosol (any scent).

and lastly a lace doily to adorn the rustic top.

Best,

Aunt Mark

Beautiful. And an in-situ photograph should be sent to the editors of "Architectural Disgust" magazine, for possible inclusion in an upcoming issue . . .
