| Danish Modern Diningroom Set? | 2 Relevance | 19 years ago | jsp | General discussion | |
| Hi there, I know nothing about midcentury. I have this diningroom set in a current estate and wondered if it would be considered Eames Era Danish Modern and whether it is teak (ballpark value if anyone has any clue). 10 pieces, table w/leaf, 6 chairs (1 captain, 5 side), china cabinet, and buffet. I haven't found any brand marked on it, but maybe I'm not looking in the right place. Thanks in advance for any informaition. | |||||

| if you're over 6'/1.82m, the eames leather lounge is dinky | 2 Relevance | 22 years ago | ojingoh | General discussion | |
| if you're over 6'/1.82m, the eames leather lounge is dinky sorry, sad but true. the old ones with rosewood shells look very nice, but as a place to sit back and read the paper or snooze, no thanks, at least for this 6' human. there is no support for your head at all, and the shoulder support stops at my lower shoulder. it's plush, no doubt, and it has great arm rests. ihmo that's where the aluminum group lounge falls down hard, the arms are too low, unpadded and kind of far apart, you end up scrunching up your elbows in towards your body. good tall height ... | |||||

| Probably not. When the dinner is over and the desert is past, and wine drinking has been drunk and it is finally time to sleep you just rock the chair back, back until gravity pulls it down and it lands on the springy horns with a little bounce, and your eyes they close... | |||||

They have a couple of furniture lines that would actually fall under the description "Mid-Century Modern" or "MCM". The four furniture lines that are most desirable for MCM collectors in the US are: - the Walnut louvered front line (like this one: https://www.flickr.com/photos/kinzco/7405613666), - the Walnut metal X and off-set metal pulls line line (like this http://interiordecorideas.net/coffee-table/american-of-martinsville ... | |||||
