Sciolari sconces wall lights, set of 5, gilt brass & crystals, 1960`s ca, Italian, rewired

These vintage wall lights have been gently cleaned while respecting the aged patina. They are newly rewired & earthed, PAT tested by an electrician and ready to install. They have 5 new lamp holders and 5 new lampshades. It is possible to use these sconces in other countries although it may be necessary to purchase different light bulbs suitable to local electricity. These lights can be use with a dimmer.   This elegant set of vintage wall lights by Gaetano Sciolari are a reinterpretation of the traditional Neoclassical sconce. Key design features such as the scrolling leaves, fluted columns and dangling crystals are kept simple for a Modern clean look. They have Italian craftsmanship and attention to detail, emphasized with the use of polished & satin gilt finishes. The metal frames are quality cast and have a good weight. These lights would suit a range of interiors such as Antique, Traditional, Hollywood Regency, or Contemporary.   Gaetano Sciolari`s company was based in Rome, the original maker`s label `SCIOLARI ROMA` is still present behind four of the bases. The wall brackets are also stamped `SCIOLARI`, as photographed.   At the centre of each frame there is a circular base in gilt brass with satin finish. This is has a stepped edge in the Neoclassical style.   From this base a single arm with a reeded effect and satin finish reaches forward. One end of the arm leads to the lamp holder. Before the lamp holder there are decorative leaves either side followed by a reeded column & reeded bobeche. The `top` end of the arm is attached to the base, this end has a pair of decorative leaves attached to a Neoclassical amphora style finial. The design motif & quality casting is the same in all 5 lights although in some sconces these back leaves are attached in slightly different positions.   This composition has both polished and satin finishes; the contrast creates different reflections & depth.   On the bobeche there is the new lamp holder inside the acrylic candle cover in ivory tone with a satin finish. These are original to the lights. These covers are removeable for cleaning & transport.   Each light has 32 quality crystals: 4 faceted drop crystals, 6 octagonal faceted crystals & 22 faceted crystal beads. Dangling from the front leaves there are 2 medium drop crystals either side. This pattern is repeated at the back leaves with 2 slightly larger drop crystals. There is a small octagonal crystal on top of them all. There are 2 swags of graduated crystal beads plus an octagonal crystal draped from the front to the back leaves. This entire composition brings the design together and adds depth.   To fit the frames to the wall there are two holes on each round frame from which two brass decorative pegs screw to a removable grey metal bracket on the back. This metal bracket has 2 holes through which it is screwed to the wall.   Each light is finished with a new clip-on grey silk lampshade. These have grey trim and metallic gold lining.   Each wall light carries one standard small screw light bulb (E14) up to 40 Watts. At present fitted & photographed with Candle Clear shaped light bulbs of 28 Watts. These are included in the price. It is possible to use other E14 bulbs Candle types. These sconces could be installed also without the lampshades for a traditional look.   This set of 5 of sconces is in very good vintage condition. All the original crystals are present with no chips and only minor patina & marks in line with age & wear. The metal frames are sound with no damages. The gilt finishes are in good condition, with some age patina, tiny marks & minor rubbing to the gilt in places, slightly noticeable around the base trim, all in line with age & wear. The 5 lampshades are new and in very good condition.   This set of sconces sell together and the price featured here is for the set of five.   Additional dimensions:   The total dimensions with shades on is: Height: 36 cm, Width: 13 cm, Depth: 19 cm.   The frame alone without the shades is: Height: 26 cm, Width: 13 cm, Depth: 13 cm.   The round base that attaches to the wall has a diameter of 10.5 cm.   The lampshade alone is: Height: 9.5 cm, Diameter at the bottom: 14 cm, Diameter at the top: 7 cm   Packing is offered free of charge. We take special professional care with packing. For safe transport the shades will be wrapped separately in bubble wrap, foam and an outer layer of card. These will be stacked together. The frames will be wrapped similarly. Together these pieces would easily fit into a box with loose cushioning for secure shipping with a courier.
