‘Mingei: Are You Here?’

Pace London’s first group exhibition ‘Mingei: Are You Here?’ explores the legacy of Mingei, a Japanese folk craft movement founded by philosopher and critic S?etsu Yanagi and questions the presence of craftsmanship in contemporary art.

For the first time historical works by Japanese Mingei craftsmen can be seen alongside works by modern and contemporary artists and designers inspired by the movement.

Curated by Nicolas Trembley, it features paintings, sculptures, ceramics, and textile works by artists and designers including Charlotte Perriand, Isamu Noguchi, Hiroshi Sugimoto, Ruth Asawa and head designers at Muji, Naoto Fukasawa and Jasper Morrison, as well as more.
