Hello Old Design Addict Pals (including Gianni Di Frutta, if you're reading this)--

I haven't posted here in a long time, but have a leather furniture issue that someone here may have a neat solution for.

I have a white leather sofa that was stored wrapped in corrugated cardboard, standing on its side. As a result, the leather on the side where the weight rested now bears very noticeable parrallel indented lines from the cardoard texture.

The sofa's only been unwrapped for about twenty four hours after being stored this way for a couple of years. I assume that the indents will eventually loosen up and disappear; wondering if anyone has any ideas to accelerate the process?

Maybe @spanky? I don’t know but as an expert for everything upholstery she might know something about leather as well …

and welcome back!

Eureka, a blow dryer, why didn’t I think of that? Great solution, heat (& moisture) are a good way to smooth leather.

What’s  the metal object being used in the first example- just a random smooth heavy metal bar?

Thanks for the video, appreciated.

The metal block is sold at Lederzentrums professional shop, but we used a smooth hand dolly, usual used for metal-shaping. Just put it in the fridge over night. It is the hot - cold change, it works, not in all cases, but for many!

"... cold change, it works, not in all cases, but for many!"

That makes sense-- the heat softens the leather, the application of a cold smooth surface against the pliable leather "fixes" it in the desired smooth shape.

Thanks again.
