I am rather new to refinishing but have recently inherited 1964danish teak dining table. I have stripped and lightly sanded trying to take care with the veneer. My plan is to finish with Watco Danish Oil as I have done with the walnut dining chairs that came with it.
After stripping, the top has variations in color and some lighter areas near the edges. Also the leaves are slightly darker as I assume we’re not used as often.
Question, will these lighter areas on the edges blend in when finished and will leaves show up noticeably different. Please see attached photo.
Any advice would greatly appreciated.
I'd suggest reading through some of the old threads on here that discuss teak refinishing and Watco products. I just refinished a teak table and a cart. For the table, which had finish damage in a number of areas, I sanded off the previous finish and oiled with Star Brite Teak Oil. For the cart, which only had some discoloration, I used the "Spanky Method" of teak oil and steel wool. I was happy with the results on both. Here are a few old threads I found helpful:
