Hello,
I am doing some research right now about Guzzini and I would like to know how they painted they Big Bud lamps. There is a beautiful gradient near the chrome opening. The inside of the lamp is white and the outside is sometimes beige/pink with some variations (orange version). Does anyone have any idea how they achieved that result ? My instinct tells me airbrush painting on the outside (like auto body spray painting), with a darker tone to achieve that nice gradient. I wonder if the lamp itself is thermoformed out of white acrylic or if it is clear acrylic at first that is then spray painted white inside and with another color outside. Does the paint have to be with a certain level of transparency ? I'm really curious about this process. Let me know if any of you have any clues.
Thank you friends!
It seems if you might need to acquire one of these lamps to disassemble, make close inspections and, perhaps, perform minimally invasive testing of components. Further analysis would require finding a plastics chemist/engineer or similar expert to help and I'm not sure the DA Forum is the best place for that.
Bon Chance from another Tom!
