I own a DAT chair with a Bassick Flo Tilt-mechanism. There’s quite some wobbling going at the top of the base.

I carefully disassembled the base top to look for a way to tighten the pillar, but I couldn't really find anything.

Right now I'm thinking it's due to the bolt that's running across, but it has no screwing end so I'm not sure what to do with this.

Does anyone have any experience with this?

Thank you!

looks more like it is the spindle, not the bushing! Spindle needs some clearance, I think you need to live with...

Do you mean it was intended to be this loose?

Thanks.

@lennard, No, it was not meant to be so loose! I suspect the lash has developed and worsened over many years of use. If both ends of the pin that secures the tilt mechanism to the threaded post are peened over as rivet heads, you can grind or file off one end to remove and then add shims or some sort of bushing material to tighten everything up. Or, if the socket hole doesn't go through to where the Flo-Tilt fits, you might get away with simply turning the chair upside down and dribbling some thinned epoxy into the gap without need for disassembly. Good luck!
