Just acquired a set of Bertoia children's chairs. Original cushions are a bit dirty but otherwise intact. The foam is hard as a rock. Has anyone heard of replacing the foam? I'm thinking an upholstery shop would be able to weasel in there and replace it and it wouldn't be seen if the underside was accessed. I'd probably rather buy new ones but I assume it's not available anymore. By the way, I'm getting them powder coated. I kind of like the black leg/white seat look - saw it on a Chicago craigslist ad for the same kind of wee chairs. Thanks so much in advance for any help.

Found that outfit bertoia...
Found that outfit bertoia pads.com just now. Looks like it would be over $100 per pad to get new ones made. Can't really see spending more on the pads than I did the chairs. mmmmmm foam.

How about $40?
This guy sells naugahyde side-chair pads in multiple colors for $40 apiece:

Probably don't carry the child's size...
I would just put sand in them.

New but equally exciting question.
What's the best option for glide replacement?
Edit: Sorry, should have mentioned I've contacted Knoll and haven't heard back yet.

Knoll sells glides
And a couple people on Ebay sell them, too:

Again
Might not fit the child's chairs.

Wow, how'd I miss that?
Yeah, I don't know whether the wire on the child's chair is the same diameter as the others.
Sorry, SX-70; I somehow didn't see "child" in your original query.

Should work
I think the diameter of the rails is the same (14mm) on all members of the Bertoia family. Knoll currently is offering the child's diamond chair and it says 14mm on the specs. So those glides on ebay (say they fit between 3/8 and 7/16) would work.
I just did a quick search based on those measurements and there appears to be a few online hardware outfits selling the very same glides for under a buck a piece (problem is your order has to total more than $25).

I'm pretty sure...
Current Knoll production uses thicker rods than the vintage, at least for the adult size. Not sure if it's the same for child's sizes. I can check this tonight if you want.
Edit: Then again, the current production chairs do not use the same type of glides as the vintage chairs.

Felt glides a plenty
I just ordered 48 glides with felt pads (fits 3/8-7/16). I only need 16 but I had to order more to reach the minimum charge. I refuse to pay $3-5 a piece (ebay/hume modern) when the stupid things are 56 cents. If anyone else needs some let me know.
