U-452 Pink and White Sideboard by Jiri Jiroutek for Interier Praha

This piece perfectly embodies the so-called Brussels Style, named after the Expo 1958 in Brussels where Czechoslovakia won 13 prizes including one in the furniture category. These sideboards were produced in different versions, colours and sizes. Over the years they became very desirable pieces and they perfectly represent Jiroutek’s talent to design furniture that is practical, popular and iconic. This particular piece has a solid wooden back, as opposed to a cheaper veneered chipboard which many furniture producers opt for. This exemplifies the quality of the piece and has the added bonus of versatility, as the sideboard can be used anywhere within a space. The sideboard is in good vintage condition. There is some minor wear and tear on the wooden surface (mainly on the top part) and on the formica doors acquired over the years.
