funny ha ha, its coming into winter here and I've been eating more rhubarb and apple puddings than is good for me.
I have lux sludge sitting on some scrap now and if I can get some oxalic (?) acid will try that too, do you have a brand name for this coconut oil floor finish? Does it smell like coconuts? I'd hate to have some Ibiza like stench in my living room.
BLITZA by Junkers

This rediused joint
is pretty, and superficially logical in form and structure -- but I have always thought that it represents an intrinsic waste of wood, and the short grain at the crucial center of the joint gives the lie to its structural sense. Guess I'm just a "square" ! Your version of it doesn't sacrifice strength, and looks fine.
The form seems more appropriate to cast parts than to carved ones. But it looks good in any material, even if it is a late hold-over from the Baroque. . .
you're square and I'm smooth...
you're square and I'm smooth 🙂
I've got one of the Wanscher chair above and its fantastic, I agree there is a little waste but that depends on the size of the radius and if there are any big curves or tapers in the design, in mine and the Wanscher chair the waste is still minimal and I've never seen one of these pieces with damaged short grain in the corner (probably cos its not exposed) also too if it is m + t all the strength in the joint is internal so the short grain is irrelevant I would have thought.
Can you explain your ideas on the baroque? And also some months ago you posted a picture of a joint that was some sort of six way mitre, do you have a link? Cheers, Heath

excellent , thankyou, it was the last image of the earlier post that I remembered.
What dissapoints me is the lack of high quality plans available for anything other than Stickley and Shaker furniture (nice as it is).
That is rather extravagant joinery 🙂 Lovely looking workshop too.
Thought you might like this table base.
