Hello all-- looking for some ideas for dining chairs that fit nicely in this space. I originally thought of the Kartell Mademoiselle chair but decided to get only one as an accent chair for the entryway. All suggestions welcome.

I agree with Antonella
I have found the Maui chair by Vico Magistretti to have a comfortable, well designed seat. This experience surprised me a little because it superficially resembles so many other contemporary chairs – but this one works well and would look great in your space along with the Mademoiselle as an accent chair.
Another current thread on DA discusses the merits of the Series 7 by Jacobsen and the DCM by Eames. That thread mentions that you tend the slide forward the 7 and lounge on the DCM. Both of those examples are also lacking support where our human anatomy might need it most. The Maui in contrast allows you to nestle you buns comfortably for dinner. Look at the shape where the seat meets the back and you will see the containment area and the wide front of the seat curves easily under your legs.

why not a Kartell chair?
Although I like the Panton chair I dont see it very well
in that space. Also it's made of fibreglass which is a harmful
material, so I would avoid it in any case... but why not
a Kartell chair?

We had a similar interior about 6 months ago and filled it with a design dining chair in similar upholstery as your sofa. I can send you the pictures by email so just drop me an email, (I don't know how to post pictures here).

I couldn't decide.... so I have 2 sets
Similar floor color than yours and similar table color...
I went with 2 red DCW's and 2 chrome vintage Bertoias... waiting for their red pads. Rug will change soon to a "PETA happy" cowhide in B&W pattern.... we'll see. I hope this helps!

See the space, with a lot of straight lines and rectangular shape. You need to balance it with something soft, different and anchor the space. Does it make any sense?

thanks for responses... I
will think seriously about the maui chair. i've like the bertoia for a while but didn't feel it would work. but based on the photos it might. builder-- i kinda like my place with the lines. the only thing that rectangular are the tables. otherwise, the couch is actually rounded to match the curvature of the windows. but i think i can understand what you mean. there's barely anything in the space. once i have some more art, photos, rugs i'm sure it will be warmer. keep the suggestions coming! i have committed to a dinner party just to motivate myself to buy chairs within the next month.
score: 2 for maui, 1 for bertoia, 1 DWC, 1 for panton
how about the originally idea of the mademoiselle? strikes anyone as a good idea?
