We got these 2 chairs for very cheap. The owner doesn't seem to know what it is and simply sell it as a pair of dinning chairs.

There is no visible marking on the underside, and it seems like something was done to the chairs. The diagonal bracing on the underside and the piece of board added to support the upholstery all seem a bit weird to me.

Anyway, are these Moller 71s? Arne Hovmand Olsen maybe?

And the shape of the back and I think the legs and sides of the frame too, right?

You probably think of the Kai Kristiansen for Korup. They look somewhat similar. Maybe that is a starting point.

Yes the joints get me, I've never seen it on a chair of the similar period before. Maybe this is a copy from a much later date?

I'm afraid that this is neither Arne Hovmand or Moller.

I have some information on this buried somewhere. I'll try to take a look tonight.

The chair is by V.S. Andersen for VSA Mobler. The only other designer I know of who did design work for them was Kai Kristiansen.

V.S. Andersen also designed this chair, which is frequently attributed incorrectly to Madsen & Larsen.

It seems likely that VSA was influenced by Kai Kristiansen who, as pointed out, used these mitered jounts elsewhere. Or maybe it was the other way round.

I see that the Danish Furniture Index lists a number of designers that worked for Schou Andersen, now that I have thought to check. In the small catalog I have, it shows only designs cited to VS Andersen and Kai Kristiansen. The Kristensen dining chairs shown are all familiar ones.
