Hi all 🙂
I found this chair today at a local ts, Sacramento CA
I have searched files here but did not see this seat style.
I found a set that was previously listed on 1stDibs as Early CH23 with
the same seats, although reupholstered. I also see this same style of folded
over seat on Bullhorn chair and W2 chair, one stated as leather but this one
does seem like a very high quality fabric backed naugahyde.
Everything appears original, old webbing, old cotton batting and nails.
Just wanted to get an opinion, anything you would like to share would
be great. Thanks so much. ~Paula

I redid some old ones with nearly as old vinyl on the seats. Probably got cat-damaged or stained or something way back when and somebody decided vinyl was less trouble. They also had pretty obvious marks from an orbital sander AND they'd been varnished rather sloppily. Cleaned up nice, though!
Thanks CDSilva for your info on cord and cane.
Spanky, very interesting, thats why I was kind of confused. It seems like that black vinyl was the only thing available, lol - it all looks the same with a very light pattern to it. It makes it look like it was an option. Thanks for your pics, yes it did clean up nice!
sorry, i didn't include the "after" photos--these are SO worth the restoration! They're one of my favorite chairs ever. The third chair I ever rewove was one of these. If you're at all interested in reweaving your chair yourself, there are some excellent support threads here with a lot of tips and helpful information. It's not quite as difficult as it looks.
It takes me about 4 hours, I think--but that's with a lot of experience, though I could probably go faster if I was young and my hands hurt less! It used to take me longer but then I finally figured out how to keep the cord from tangling and twisting, now it goes pretty smoothly.
this is the first of the three threads I mentioned above (the other two are linked as you go along):

The Wegner CH23 is a little more complicated than the M
Thanks so much for your input. I didn't think it would be a considered a defect. My thought was if you are looking for a CH23 chair, this is one, with a replaced seat and their are several out there in the same manner. You can still use it as a chair, it is not broken. Maybe the word original was not the right choice. Since I have a bidder already, I will have to think about how to proceed. Thanks again.
