Point?
Yeah, I am a noob. What of it? At one point, you and every other person on this site were noobs too. We all have to start somewhere, and I chose to start here - a place where I thought people with a mutual appreciation of design, and the desire to learn and share with others, came to exchange ideas. I guess I was wrong, as it seems to be rapidly developing into a place where people have nothing better to do but stir up conflict and resort to name calling. I guess when the day comes that I am no longer a noob, I can take pleasure in looking down on those who know less than me and antagonizing others instead of contributing in a constructive manner.

Noob (2nd Definition)
Originally an (shortened) insult to newcomers in forums or internet games e.g. counter strike, the word has been stolen and is currently being used as an insult with a different meaning. It is used in certain places to describe someone who is slightly - ahem - slow and ditsy. Basically it is used to insult a pesron who makes a stupid comment or somebody who makes many stupid comments.
"the tibula bone exists!" "no it doesn't you noob"
........which you are not artsnot!....maybe a bit disillusioned!
I guess this thread
delaminated into a senseless mess a while back -- but anyway, in response to the statement "I still can't understand why someone would want
new-looking runners on a vintage chair" I reply: "You put new tires on that vintage [Old car of you choice], don't you ? What's the alternative when a part wears out or breaks ? New old stock, languishing on someone's storeroom shelf ? Make a new one but "distress" it so it looks old ? Rob the old parts of the other guy's chair/car/toaster when he isn't looking, and install it on yours ?
It's a personal aesthetic choice, SDR.
The details of my argument against aren't really important beyond my general opinion that it seems incongruous to me when objects (or people) with some age have been tarted up to look inappropriately younger.
As to what I would do if the chair were mine, I would make the necessary repairs to the original runners and keep them on. The armadas, of course, are free to do as they please.
Oh, and to maintain the spirit of this thread, a chair is not a car.
