Is it just me, or are rugs perhaps the only interior design element besides paint color that drives people to hysterics?
Every rug seems to be too something.
too plain.
too contemporary.
too traditional.
too neutral.
too loud.
There is almost never the perfect rug.
A rug has an important role. VIsual boundaries and groupings. An anchor. It sets the tone underneath every last piece of furniture on it or directly around it.
How could you pick just one?
I thought we could discuss your rug decisions.
SDR makes a good point as is normally the case...
However, I've never understood the "foreground" approach. In my past adventures of bringing home, returning and repeating I've found that "background" is really the only proper approach. Even the most interesting, impressive floor coverings are unsuccessful in application if they can't fade into the landscape, a backdrop if you will.
