Hi, I bought the chair for $30 with the intention of restoring it. Initially I though about just removing the upholstery completely but upon removal it turns out the fiberglass is raw and kind of a mess. I think it's both a mix of adhesive and the fiberglass getting exposed that result in looking kinda gross.

Here are pics of the 'progress'.

Now I have to decide between reupholstering or going ahead with the bare route:

Reupholstering: I have kept the original fabric so it should be easy for me to reuholster, I just need to buy new padding and a replacement for the rubber that surrounds the chair because it came with a gap. BTW, what is that rubber called? Having a hard time googling it.

Bare: I suppose this is the more inovled as I would have to remove the remaining adhesive and then finish the bare top.

What route should I go? I would really appreciate any tips.

Thank you!
