Knowledge shared is Knowledge gained
I remember.....
someone on DA back in the day was a heavyweight Braun expert. I have come across something that I think is pretty high on alot of collectors wish lists, an original ET 55/2 calculator (the white one). I am trying to research the darn thing but there is a dearth of info out there, or maybe I am just a knucklehead.
I'll add a pic at some point....
Douglas Ball for Sunar, S System desk with return, credenza, and file cart. The shop had it labeled as "Designed by Michael Graves", apparently based on a 1stDibs ad with incorrect attribution (I know, shocking). There's not much online about this line, but after some research I was able to determine this was designed by Douglas Ball for the Canadian firm Sunar's S System line introduced in 1969. This was said to be designed to compete with Herman Miller's Action Office line that came out in 1964.
Based on the very few examples I could find online, it must not have been very commercially successful. The pieces are very well made with heavy chromed steel framing, enameled steel panels, laminate and vinyl tops, and plastic trims. My favorite feature is the vinyl roll-up file cover on the return and credenza. Ball went on to design the Race office system for Sunar, and began working with Herman Miller in 2002. Mr. Ball is still working and listed as President of Douglas Ball Inc. of Montreal.
Very cool and rarely seen!
