Very happy to have just found two Lars Eiler Schiøler for Hoyrup Butterfly (37) lamp shades in their original packaging, never before used. I'd love to find more "substantial" Danish lighting, like a PH, but I really enjoy these, their shape and the early pre-Ikea knock-down/DIY practicality. I read on Hoyrup's website ( http://schiolers.dk/ ) that Ikea was an early customer that encouraged them to continue experimenting with the DIY models, and that the Butterfly was the first of this kind of design.
I haven't yet fitted them to hang as pendants (and am hoping that it won't be too difficult to find the right size hardware), but to see how the light plays on them I sat them on top of my Castore table lamps.
Nothing as fancy as Waldorf's chandelier, just an unused 25 year old Axor/Hansgrohe Starck Classic single hole vanity faucet by Philippe Starck for $5 from a garage sale nearby. I was expecting worn gaskets and faulty cartridge but all is good and just had to get an extension for the hot and cold water lines.
Haslev/Hansen nesting tables, Mogensen table/spillebord, and a Bruksbo Mellemstrand chest.
And to maintain my status as smart ass, it's not a trifecta of Danish rosewood pieces, but of Scandinavian rosewood pieces.
What did I win?
Nice call on the Bruksbo. I had to look around for a while in advance before IDing that one. I would've eventually found out as this design seems to usually be marked on the underside.
While Borge did design a few fliptop pieces for Soborg, this one is a Grete Jalk design for Poul Jeppesen. There are some discrepancies in the vintage record about design credit for this cart. Many vintage catalogs specifically give PJ the design credit, in addition to the manufacturing credit. However, many pieces (including mine) give GJ the design credit on the maker's label. It could be similar to Arne Hovmand Olsen's early chair designs for Moller. The vintage record indicates that he was the designer of some early Moller chairs, but subsequently the design credit was transferred over to Niels.
