i'm interested in possibly purchasing this frank lloyd wright chair that i was told came directly from a wright home in the midwest, but have no idea what to offer. i've looked for comps and have never seen one sold. it's obviously old, but there are no markings.
any help would be much appreciated
Compare to
Taliesin-authorized copy by Cassina, 1986.

It wouldn't
surprise me to learn that Cassina added a bit to the seat height of their reproduction -- given that Wright may have designed his chair a bit under-scaled compared to today's common dimensions. If so, the bottom of the legs would be one place to make that adjustment -- though it could be argued that a less noticeable change would have been to stretch the entire leg-and-strut assembly. One benefit of leaving the structure at the original size would be that a modification down to the original size -- for a really fussy customer -- would be easier to accomplish with the adjustment I'm assuming, above . . .
Whew. I need a nap.
Midway chair markings
Jeremiah1223,
The Cassina Frank Lloyd Wright is marked underneath the seat on the metal support that holds the cushion (a pink hue as shown in SDR's attachment) which is attached to a plastic base. I have this Cassina chair (sitting on a stairwell landing for visual impact only) and I just checked the markings.
The paint on your chair looks terrible and the seat cushion is poorly redone. Give them $25.00 and call it a day.
