of mine has a mccobb dresser with pulls like that. the mark was on the outside of a drawer side rail. i had not seen a mark in that location on other brands. i almost missed it. try looking there.

that top looks burned. If it's veneer it's dead. What are the two spots on the left ? Was there a standing upper unit ?
I've built so much corporate furniture in the last twenty years that has just this detailing. It's essentially the default construction for modern frameless cabinet construction.
