Hello, I saw your message on the other thread.
As far as I know furniture by Arne Vodder will not be marked with his signature. You should look for a makers mark by one of the manufacturers he was known to be associated with such as France & Son or Sibast.
Try to download some images of the pieces, hopefully someone here can help.
the maker's mark
H. Moon,
Thank you for the response, I appreciate it. I have the maker's stamp on the credenza, dresser, dining table and I think the china cabinet. It is Povl Dinesen. The credenza and dresser have Arne Vodder design drawers. When I removed the drawers from each piece and set them in order looking at the backside of the back panel, there is a "V" in pencil beginning on the top drawer and going wider with each drawer, but in perfect alignment. On the inside back panel of the dresser, upper right corner, there is a penciled letter or number. The dresser is stamped with a number No. 13 and the credenza with No. 08. Both have the Sibast decal on the inner panel of the top drawers. The credenza has reversible doors, black on one side, teak on the other.
The dining table has the number 41 penciled on the underneath on several, if not all, the pieces. It is also stamped with Povl Dinesen on the underneath.
I have 10 chairs, 8 regular and 2 arm. These, I believe are Eric Buck "floating chairs". They were originally a teal fabric, but were reupholstered many years ago, and are in need of reupholstering again.
I have a 3 shelf tea cart that does have some damage to one leg.
I feel certain the credenza and dresser are Arne Vodder designs, Povl Dinesen the cabinet maker for Sibast Furniture.
I am not sure about the china cabinet. It has three curved bases or legs and the original glass sliding doors. I cannot find any markings on this piece, but it is beautiful.
I appreciate any info you can provide. PB
further research
After more research, I think I have a clearer understanding of who designed, made, and distributed the pieces I have. I am adding photo's today and would value your opinion. I believe the credenza, hutch, dresser, tea cart and dining table are Arne Vodder designs for Sibast and distributed by Povl Dinesen. I think the chairs are Erik Buch's "floating chairs" and were also distributed by Povl Dinesen, not certain, as I can find no marks on chairs. They were all purchased at the same time in Augsberg, Germany between 1961-63, according to the previous owner. I look forward to your response once you've seen the photo's.
More images of teak pieces
Here's the credenza or sideboard and china hutch. It has the No. 8-- stamped inside on the bottom panel when you remove the drawer. Povl Dinesen mark on the bottom and the backs of the drawers have the same "V" penciled on them and the No. 8-- mark on them. Any info any of you have is greatly appreciated!
It looks like your sideboard is this design from Vodder.
The furniture index lists it as an unknown model number by Sibast. I think the stamp on the back of the drawers does refer to the model number so we could assume that this would be called a model OS 8.
I'm going to check the back of the drawers on my Vodder sideboard to see if this theory holds water.
The numbers on
Your arne vodder pieces signify the model number which is common for lots of makers to do so they can identify the right pieces during production.
The v pencil marks on the back of the drawers signify top to bottom. If the drawers are mixed up the v is out of line and the fronts veneers will not line up.
A good cabinet maker will mark each drawer so that it fits in a certain position making the gaps between perfect.
Try and muddle the drawers up and see if any of them hit each other when you try to close them. If they do you have proven the point i make of each drawer in its own unique position
