mystery minimalist wall sculpture help  

I assume these two panels constitute one sculpture. Please look past the awful colors. Scratches indicate they were once one silver and one gold, now with a poor repaint. They are 4' square steel rod constructions with a heavy stiff paper or thereabouts that is the solid panels.This material does a credible approximation of sheet metal. This material is also wrapping the inside, suggesting the could free hang to be viewed in the round. Some strings still on one may confirm this reading. Perhaps they were hanging room dividers. I think they will be stunning in white under angled lighting. Anyone know these?
