Hello, I'm new to this forum. I have recently acquired a desk that I believe is an Eames ESU Desk. It was with 4 large ESU wall units that were indeed authentic items. I assumed...(I know), the desk was authentic. There are suble differences that have me stumped. Yet, it is period, and well made. Can anyone help me?Thanks very much...Theseeker

Think like the Charles and Ray. An Eames desk (authentic or not) will be in several parts with exposed screws. panels, steel angle with pre drilled holes, attached (not welded) x-bracings. This is the main difference between the work of Eames and Saarinen. Saarinen designs are a unified whole (like the Tulip series)while the Eameses celebrate the connections (exposed hardware, rubber shock mounts, etc.).
From the picture, your desk steel frame does not have the pre-drilled holes. It looks like a very good looking vintage copy/reproduction. (Maybe?...to be determined)
To learn more about the work of Charles and Ray Eames, visit or contact the Eames Office/Foundation in Venice Beach, CA or online or see a museum example/display.
