@herringbone. Not trying to be morbid or anything, but obituaries or death notices ( Arnold may very well still be alive, so apologies if this is the case) Population / census records ?
Just a thought.

Checked everything I could find. I know Arnold Madsen's birthday now (not the day of his death, but I strongly doubt that he is still among us. He would be 112), I know when Ib Madsen was born and when and where he died. But the obituary you can find online doesn't list many relatives. Theres only one name on it, and that didn't really help.

@lexi. I found a pair of the same chairs you posted at an auction in my area. I’ve been looking to identify them for many months now, so I am glad I found this thread (and thank you)! The foot rest that came with them is definitely the classic M&S one.
According to auctioneer the original owner brought them from the UK to the US.
cheers
@babar. Thank you for sharing .Enjoy your chairs. Out of curiosity, how did you come across this thread? Did the auction house sell them as Madsen and Schubell? Do your chairs have labels or markings? If so please post pics!
Sorry for all the questions; just interested.
Regards. Lexi

@lexi. Absolutely! After seeing a strong similarity with another model of a Madsen and Schubell chair online I decided to google "Madsen and Schubell Chair" and this thread was one of the top results! I let you imagine the excitement I felt when I saw your post... It's been 9 months now that I've been trying to identify them. For a while, I thought they were a rare Finn Juhl model.
As for the markings, unfortunately, there are none except an old tag from a moving company, "Bekins", which eliminated the possibility of the chairs being recent knock-offs. They do need some work, however, and possibly some reupholstering, so I may find something else when I do this. Happy to post the Bekins tag if you want, but I don't think that would help clarify the origin of the chairs.
As for the auction house, they had no clue of the designer or maker, it just said "nice mid-century chairs." Thankfully for me, given the price I paid for them...
Cheers
@babar Glad we could help. Always nice to see when all that sleuthing pays off.

@herringbone. babar' s post makes all that investigating, talking, googling etc seem worthwhile. 😎

Hi, I'm new here. And I have a question. I've been scrolling through this topic beacause I am looking for the designer(s) of this model Bovenkamp that I own at the moment. And I have not yet seen it pass here. So I'm curious if any one of you knows. Thanks, FreeBIRD
PS: This model is in teak and with the round feet but I also once owned one in Rosewood with square feet.
This design doesn’t appear in any M&S related advertisements from Bovenkamp. Thus I would say no, no connection. But don’t forget that Bovenkamp only bought the license from Madsen and Schubell to jump on the Danish modern wagon by introducing a special Danish looking furniture line. Apart from that they did produce many other models over the time. This sofa, which doesn’t look extraordinarily „Danish“ to me, seems to be one of those.

Just thought I would share. Was perusing stools on the Danish furniture index, passing the time on yet another "lock-down" evening. Spotted the following entry. Their reference Mobilia 1966. No.133 and apparently designed by Leif Alring ??
Model 45 as per the Schubell family.
