Utterly
delightful !!
I think I like the "shorter" prototype even better -- with its leg struts seemingly further separated along the vertical member, and a more compact composition ?
And the way you've dealt with the cord is marvelous. Wit in furniture-making isn't dead yet, is it.
The play of a tripod form made of square stock, and the resulting odd angles at which the pieces intersect, is a joy to witness. Constructivism freed from the orthogonal ? More, more !

While I was away at camp
Just back from a 3 month artists residency. Here is most of the outcome. Excuse the low quality pic. It was shot on the fly right as I was starting to pack up my studio. Great lamp Ptrick!

thanks!
SDR,
Thanks for the feedback. I am considering a smaller, tabletop version and a flat-packable version using round stock to perhaps offer up on Etsy.

After a couple of years on hi...
After a couple of years on hiatus, I have finally collected my dream team of musicians and started another band. The music, unfortunately, I cannot show you until we record the material. But we recently settled on the band name "boy" and I made a logo.
We wanted a simple word, no strange spellings, easy to remember, conveys a feeling. In the past I have always had horribly long names ... Sunshine Revival Band, Living Better Electrically, and I wanted a painfully short one.
The goal with this design was to make something familiar (my inspiration was the fisher price 'little people' and old creative playthings graphics). I also wanted a graphic that doesn't take itself too seriously (you know how bands are). Most musicians think the only inspired art comes from negativity.
Lastly, I wanted something that would punch in only black and white .. the text should be readable, but only at the second glance. Readable, but with a simple, quick search.

"Boy" would have been fine twenty years ago...
... but these days a band needs a domain name and needs to be findable via Google.
Also, my first thought on reading your post was "Why'd they name their band after the U2 album?"... But that's probably just me.
The logo's cute, though.

Yeah
I hear all of your critiques, and none of them are new to me. Boy, the U2 record is the first response i get from many ... and BOY bands are the second.
But - when you have four completely different people it's really hard to fall on a name that you ALL like. And this was it. I like it.
I think the name fall sinto my desire to make an UNname. One that is so simple it could be anything.
The sound is definitely not NKOTB or the like. Describing a sound is almost worthless. But if we were to open for a band you might know bands like MGMT, The Flaming Lips, Avi Buffalo, Spoon etc..

Thanks bj,
I've never actually taken any pictures during the making of the chair, maybe I will on the next one.

I'm following woodwork...
I'm following woodwork lessons and my (now) own experience fills me with even more amazement for the organic danish design I collect. I'm really curious to the process of these pieces.

BJ,
That's great, woodworking is quite rewarding. If you'd like some insight into some of the classic Danish pieces, find a pdf copy of PP Mobler's catalogue and start studying the pictures. There are quite a few photos from the wood shop where you can see some of the individual pieces, pre assembly, and the machines they're made on. As well, there are some great videos on their website.
Best,
Shawn
