Missed out on this modular seating group by Hans Olsen on CL recently. It was $400, not a super steal but a really good price.

This happened a couple months ago, I saw listing for an Eames Lounge Chair/Ottoman for $900. While I had some suspicion, I called to make arrangement to see it the following day (it's a 2 hour drive). The guy called me the same evening and said it was sold to someone else already. Was I pissed......

Arco lamp
@Sean
If it makes you feel any better there are a lot of cheap Arco knock-offs turning up at second hand stores. The employee probably had a lamp that looked similar but I wouldn't worry too much you missed out on the real deal. (Hell there were even period knock-offs of the Arco) much more common to find the knock-offs than the real deal.
That said, I've got 2 Flos Arco floor lamps which I paid under $90 for each - but that was an estate sale and auction. (At the auction they thought it was a knock-off or reproduction, but upon inspection we found it was the real deal, so we got it dirt cheap). So it can happen, but I'd tell myself it was a cheap Chinese knock-off I missed and sleep better.

Dux couch
Stopped I at a neighborhood estate sale and very much wanted the Dux couch and side chair but they were asking an insane amount (think rotting latex).. Sitting in fron of the couch were two Knoll marble topped end tables which I wasn't zeroed in on. None of these pieces sold,and two days later saw the neighbor driving somewhere with everything in the back of his truck. When I asked him about it he told me it had all been donated to some fundraising event (Kiwanis) and he told me where to look for it when the sale happened. I went EARLY and got the couch for $5' and the chair for $2.50.
As we were loading it into the travelAll the truck next to us was loading the Knoll tables. I wiped the drool from my face and asked what they paid for them, and the nice lady replied " $5.00 each". Won some, lost some. It cost me $1300 to have the couch and chair reupholstered. I still think about those tables..

Shell shocked
Lost out on the chance for a Wegner shell bench. $200 from the local CL...note to self: never sleep in an extra hour on a Saturday morning...
It had a little modest water damage on a back leg and a sliver missing along the front but saying that doesn't make me feel any better 🙂
