do not be confused
Riki,
I would be much better if you were purchasing a used trailer in Alabama to use for your water ski home. That is humble.
I am happy for you and you new home. Now please have your butler bring me some snacks on the Martin Kastner, Antenna for Crucila Detail (yes I saved that to use at a later date). That is why I read this forum to get useful information.
Mark,
You Gucci lover in Palm Beach proper no less. Should you run across adamfowler telling people to be more humble on Worth Avenue perhaps you can take him to the Alcazar Lounge at the Breakers for a drink. Please post another photo of you looking sharp (maybe in some Lilly Pulitzer with matching Gucci's)
I sure am glad that The Ark no longer participates in this forum.
I suppose I owe you an apolog...
I suppose I owe you an apology Riki. What was meant as good hummed ribbing ended up as a debate I was not interested in getting in nor prepared for. There is absolutely nothing wrong with having a second home and in fact it is something to be proud of. Congratulations and I really would like to see how you furnish it. I was out of line Mark, for that I am sorry.
Thos. Moser table
waffle,
Congratulations on the Thos. Moser dining table. The only way you could have got this for less is to "wear a mask and carry a gun". Which table did you get?
I recently sold my Thos. Moser Boat Top table to a doctor in Ohio (I bought it in 2000 and got what I paid originally) and replaced it with the Fontana Arte Tour table by Gae Aulenti.
it's the
oval extension table, w/o leaves. Really streamlined and reserved. It has all the hardware underneath to support what looks like 2 leaves. It's even in pretty darn good condition. I had to PUT IT ON THE ROOF OF MY CAR because it was too wide to fit inside (48" and the legs are firmly attached).
I am on a wacky streak lately, but this is nuts.
I just picked up this early...
I just picked up this early pair of Artek Alvar Aalto stools. Not sure of the year (anyone know how to tell?) but I'm guessing around 1950. What I really like is that they have what looks like a vinyl covering. Never seen that before, and I thought maybe somebody had done that to them, but on inspection it certainly appears original.
Wegner shell table
I spotted this sitting upside down on a tower of stacked up furniture (the table not me!) at one of my locals haunts, and after pointing and making various 'ooh ooh' monkey noises it was retrieved I proceeded to carry it around until paid for. Perhaps not the ideal poker faced purchasing style but sometimes it just gets too exciting. Sadly it's not for keeps but I just love finding something a little out of the ordinary, and where you'd least expect it.
