I don't know this for a fact...
I don't know this for a fact but I think they've never been produced in large numbers. They are also pretty hard to come by, for an earthly price. I price myself lucky to say that I own almost the whole 3100/3200 series. From the Seagull I only have the 3108. (that is the one without the armrests) I am still looking for the one with. (3208)
You are fully right to say that it is a beautifull design. I can't wait to add the 3208 to my collection. This one is even more beautifull in tenfold then the one without the arms.
I can only give you one advice; search, search, search, and be patient.

The Seagull chairs was...
The Seagull chairs was designed in 1969, I believe for the National Bank in Copenhagen that A.J. also designed. Yes, the production run was very limited and yes, they were hard to make as the plywood was bend almost to its breaking point. In my humble oppinion, the version with the armrests (3208) is by far the most beautiful dining chair designed by A.J.
They're not that uncommen here in Denmark. If you want them, you can easily find them in various versions regarding the upholstery. Though they are a bit expensive here too. I took a quick look around at a few Danish websites and fx a 3108 chair with new leather and rechromed base will cost you $650-$850. A 3108 chair in yellow (no upholstery) costs $430. However it's not uncommon for a 3208 chair with it org. leather to reach $2000 or more at auctions.
I actually know a Danish collector who once had a child's chair version of the 3208 chair. Only around 10-20 was ever made. I think he sold it for $1800.

Do you also have any of the child's chairs or barchairs, Tilanus?
BTW, there's a new ad where some guy, porchmodern, says he'll be listing a few white Seagull chairs on eBay.

I will be looking out for...
I will be looking out for that one on ebay. I have only 2 children chairs; a 3107 and a 3105. Unfortunately both of them are not in a very good condition. I always keep my eyes open for more...

Who is who?
FYI 'modernisbetter' is the same person who will be listing these chairs on eBay under 'porchmodern'.
Trying to stir up some interest ($$$$$) I presume.
I certainly do not begrudge anyone for self-promotion, however this seems a bit misleading in my opinion.

misleading?
How is asking a question misleading?
I am actually unaware of the reason these chairs are so rare and expensive.
First ones I have come across.
An honest question that has not been adressed on this forum I believe.
If you don't have any creative or beneficial input you should perhaps kindly leave your comments to yourself.
You should take a job at the daily news.. You are a very astute reporter.
The forum is a better place because of morons..I mean people such as yourself.

how does your foot taste?
Actually modesign, modernisbetter did not even mention his auction. M_Anderson did. Asking questions in order to validate something you are selling is not misleading at all.

Not that it's worth much...
Not that it's worth much more conversation, but what I meant was that he/she did not mention it in this thread. This was not a thread announcing a sale in other words.

Not the first time....
Just to rattle your cage a bit more...
in the past you have referred to porchmodern in the third person. You are definitely entitled to take pride in your site and your sales, but why not present as it really is...self-promotion.
Perfect example from an earlier post:
'24-Mar-05
photos great
i think the use of the low angles and short lens are intentional. the photos look rather sexy. much better than a static front-on shot. probably deliberate.
just noticed the archive. pretty good selection of items from this guy.noticed a few images from wright20 auction. all in canada eh? this guy must get around.
i can't see one thing i don't like.

Oooookayyyy, talk about...
Oooookayyyy, talk about wearing tight underwear. I'm the guy who mentioned the Seagull chairs for sale by porchmodern. I don't know porchmodern aka modernisbetter personally, though yes, he has some nice objects on his website. However I just saw his ad on this site and thought it might interest dear tilanus who seems to be desperately looking for a 3208 Seagull chair to complete his collection. I was only trying to help a fellow collector, that's all. I really don't detect anything suspicious about this thread or any of its questions/answers. And if modernisbetter chooses to speak kindly of his own homepage, well let's say I'm certainly not gonna loose any sleep because of that. Geez Louise.
