Hi,

I found this print in a junk shop. I really like it. I was wondering if anyone recognised the artist, or could recommend a website where I could find out more?

Thank you.

Stew

Me too, Cedara !
Here are the Tate image and Chrome's image, at the same scale. Note interesting differences in color.
Tate caption: Pencil, crayon and watercolour on paper on board
support: 327 x 488 mm
on paper, unique
Thus -- not a print, but an original work ? One can see the irregular outline of the paper, mounted on board, with the title line printed (?) on the board. In Chrome's print, this paper outline is printed ? Thus, not a "print" but a reproduction of the original, with some color altered -- by the artist ?

On second thought
the color difference would be accounted for by the lack of magenta in the reproduction -- from sunlight fading, presumably.
I like the faded example quite well !

My mother-
the-printmaker made sure to inform me of the difference between a print (a hand-made impression on good paper, created or supervised by the artist) and a (photographic) reproduction -- which is so commonly called a "print."
Reproductions of fine art -- like this one -- are not to be dismissed; they have brought the work of genius to many more viewers than could the originals, hanging in museums or private collections. But the terms are not interchangeable . . .
