I'm wondering if anyone knows if it is normal for the top lip to be imperfect on an original gulvase? The one I'm referencing has proper proportions and is white/white cased glass but the upper lip has an area that is thicker than the rest of the lip. Thanks to anyone with this knowledge.

This is fairly common. The vases were mouth blown so small irregularities are often seen, esp. around the neck/lip, although some are worse than others. Should your vase be a factory second then you can find two small parallel lines scratched into the bottom.
