No...I don't think so
but the ottoman is small enough that if you bought it, you'd be able to use it elsewhere...like as a vanity stool in your bedroom.

I prefer to use chair without the ottoman. Esthetically I can not decide, sometimes I leave them together and other times I find other uses for the stool.
I find that the arm position is not comfortable for long sessions; although, my wife who is a bit shorter, fits perfectly, and says that it is her favorite chair.
I am pleased to have a Grasshopper chair and can?t imagine the house without it. Having said that, I seem to have a preference or at least a visual bias for modern furniture that utilizes wood.
If you are ordering from Modernica they can make the stool at a later date and the only increased cost to you would be the additional shipping. You might consider requesting fabric samples. I didn?t like the feel of their base fabric and opted to spend a bit more for a natural fiber as I plan on living with this chair for a long while.

Is worth noting that
most of the better lounge chairs that were designed with an ottoman were designed with that ottoman in mind. The Grasshopperis comfortable with or without an ottoman.
The Bertoia Bird Chair, on the other hand, is rather uncomfortable without an ottoman.
I think the Eames Lounge needs an ottoman too, because of the angle of the chair.
I have a number of photos of vintage Knoll furniture settings with the Grasshopper ottoman being used as a vanity stool in front of dressing table.

I really appreciate the feedbacks regarding my dillema.I've decided to go ahead and order the hopper chair alone as I live in a studio loft and scale is everything in a small space.I'm getting it from Velocity art and design as they offer free shipping.Modernica may have quicker shipping lead times,however ,they do charge shipping.It will be upholstered in the same gray fabric as my case study day bed sofa.I could not find a better lounge chair to complete my living room than the grasshopper chair.Can't wait,thanks!

I got an original Grasshopper Chair and Ottoman - from eBay a couple of years ago, and when I got it, something seems wrong with the frame, as when I sat down in it, it creaked. I had planned to recover it anyhow and when my upholsterer removed the fabric, lo and behold, the wood frame had broken at the leg attachment on the right side and had been poorly pinned (or stapled). David really fixed it good and now it's like new.
I understand that Modernica updated the framing, so let me know how sturdy your new one is when you get it.

a well made reproduction
Barry, Modernica strengthened the legs by increasing the number of ply-layers making the legs slightly thicker. My chair had the previous style legs and I recently needed to have them replaced. I gave the chair a through going over at the upholstery shop during the repair.
The interior of the chair is pretty much what you would expect from a custom piece of furniture. It is constructed by hand and the amount of labor is staggering.
The sides are sandwiched plywood with solid wood cross pieces. The seat consists of a couple of layers of open upholstery stuffing which rests on elastic bands similar in appearance to the Risom lounge only they have a bit of bounce in them. Even the back of the chair receives a layer of baffle and an interior cloth backing. They did not cut any corners in the manufacture of this chair.
I had an occasion to speak with one of the owners on the telephone when I ordered new legs and he mentioned that the chair was intricate and time consuming to produce. I mistakenly and naively thought he was justifying the price. Having had a peak backstage I am confident that the price of the chair is directly proportional to the work required to make it.
