Not sure what it is though. Could be an alteration of model 118 or 128 for whatever reasons. I assume that the design was changed after Cadivius took over business and closed the factory in Hillerod. Or at least after 1961, when the heydays of France & Son were over. After all, it wouldn't have been the only case of design alteration, there were several.
"People buy a chair, and they don't really care who designed it." (Arne Jacobsen)
I think this is an entirely different design that used a whole bunch of old jigs from the shop. They pulled out the jigs for the 118/128 for some things and the Japan sofa for others. They made a new jig, similar to the 118/128 arm for this one's arm, and that might be the only new jig that had to be made.
It is an interesting design, and will look nice reupholster, but from the standpoint of respect for your designers this sofa was not a good day for the directorship of France and S

I think Aunt Mark and Spanky called it...I like the single as well.
Herringbone, thank you so much for the photos! I looked around a lot and found nuttin'!
Are those from firstdubs? I would like to follow up on those listings to show my upholsterer if you could direct me.
I like most things about it but yes indeed, Leif, you are absolutely right if things were truly that loosey goosey in CADO land
Thank you for an interesting discussion
