Just blowing off steam here...
I sold an Eames shell chair on Sunday, tan with wide mount base & the polished screws that go through the seat into the base.
The winning bidder first bid with about 3 minutes to spare.
She emails me 20 minutes after the auction and tells me that she is pretty sure it's fake because she has never seen one like it before and because I didn't include a photo of the emblem.
I assured her that it was marked, it just didn't show up in the photo and that the exposed screws were common in chairs found in schools.
She then emails me that I didn't mention in the auction it was a childs chair. Thats right, because it isnt.
Then she asks me "whats it worth?". I say something to the extent of "??!?!?".
She then asks me "Is it the same chair thats on Etsy?". Again, I say "????!?".
She finally asks to be excused as the winner, because she doesnt like that I drilled into the chair.
No problem crazy pants.
Almost as bad
A few years ago, I sold a pair of Herman Miller logo coffee mugs on Ebay. When the buyer received them, he complained that they were "fakes". His proof of my deception was the Made-in-China markings on the bottoms. I explained that Herman Miller made furniture, and not logo swag, but he was undeterred. I told him that he could return the mugs for a full refund, and he responded by making a fraud complaint to Ebay. To their credit, Ebay eventually dismissed it.

most people know that 95 percent of all Eames fiberglass shells are real. anything made during Maos rein in China is real, cause money hungry China did not exists with the cheap knockoffs, so if it looks old from the 60's you are A o.k. sorry you got a dumb ass on ebay.. it happends.
Some people...
No matter what you say, some people's first reactions are to be not believe a seller.
Try selling 1970's Bertoia side chairs without any Knoll markings. ha! Some guy actually bought a Bertoia chair from me and was skeptical because it didn't have any markings. (Knoll didn't start stamping until the early 90's) After purchasing he brought it to the nearest DWR and compared the two. Of course the new Bertoia side chairs look nothing like the vintage design. He demanded his money back. His first reaction was disbelief. Sometimes you just can't win.
Speaking of winning, did anyone see the Kelly Green shell that sold on Ebay last night for a whopping $275 USD? hahaha wow!

Does rare equal more than double the price?
Normal shells cost half as much as the kelly green that was sold last night. I wouldn't buy a side shell for $275 USD.
I saw 3 primary "sunshine" yellow go for $375 a couple days ago. I thought those were a lot more rare.
I guess prices and colors are subjected.
