Eames style shell chairs flipping over  

Maybe try replacing the plastic glides with something that affords better grip like rubber or other resilient compound and/or cut back on the cocktail hour offerings?

So sad. A poor design. Unfortunately, your only option is to replace the unsafe chairs...or insist that your dinner guests wear protective head gear whilst dining and arm wrestling.

ps I feel your pain. I gave away a pair of Eames aluminum lounge chairs, because the old 4 star base was prone to tipping. Vodka helped.
