Fake labels are often easy to spot.
9.9 times out 10 they are inkjets and can easily be detected with the aid of a $15 pocket microscope.
Hard to tell from the photo of the HM patent label. It does look unusually fresh, but the old gum adhesive color on the turned corner is right. I'd be more concerned if the placement was perfectly square and centered. In addition, it doesn't really make sense that anyone would go to the trouble on such a common item that is otherwise obviously authentic.

Larson E. Whipsnade
While I hold no truck with deceptive and fraudulent dealers on eBay, the quote from Larson E. Whipsnade is: "You Can't Cheat an Honest Man". Unfavorable transactions may be avoided with both knowledge (product details) and integrity (no association with people known to have or suspected of having questionable character).

Can we assume this ball...
Can we assume this ball clock that "industrialarts" just sold is probably not all original?

This doesn't look like a "she...
This doesn't look like a "shenanigan", it's a refurbished clock that someone can plug in and use, it's advertised as such too (reading between the lines). I think this is just a slightly different application/different market. Original vintage design/art object versus vintage object modified so as not to burn the house down, obviously touched up for people who like things that look new.
Apparently sellers on Ebay can get $350 if they touch things up a bit. Like wow!
I prefer the dusty score...

So I think... Fred is back with another handle. Complete with cheesy photoshopped black background listing images.

Same local, and similar product with similar descriptions. Thoughts?

re: refindesignes
Honestly, he/she is not charging what some others are and far less than dealers on 1st dibs. My only problem with the seller is that he/she paints the lamps and states they are original. It is not hard to determine as 1. If you are one who collects similar lamps you have seen the lamps sell on eBay by other sellers and reappear on his/her site re-painted and 2. Unless these are old new stock I cant see how someone can think that a scratch/nick would not be present after 60 years or so.
Does pretty well for themselves via Ebay it seems.

Fred likes to have...
Fred likes to have everything he buys "refined" and touched up, and passes it off as mint.
He has an other guy do the restoration work after they buy stuff. Add labels, refinish, and then say, look here is the stuff I have had in my storage unit for 25 years that I collected for movie sets. I bought stuff from him in the past, and it made me realize how dishonest he is. He would marry parts, and make stuff look new, and when ou called him on it, supplied the pics of the stuff he flipped, he would say you were not as knowledgable as he is.
He really does not know as much as he claims. He just regurgitates when he sees online. I was the only one to leave negative feedback because I did not get bought out ( he send money back right away to avoid issues) and the majority of his buyers are out of the country anyway, and not always well versed in small details of originality. Kind of a slimy guy.

Here is another fine ebay...
Here is another fine ebay seller. One half, 14 of 28, of their feedback comes from a family member. All of the items sold for one dollar or less, and amazingly all the feedback is positive.
Lame.
