I am considering purchasing either a Bird chair or a Grasshopper chair. Any thoughts on pros and cons?

Initially I chose these over several other lounges, including the Eames lounge and the Saarinen womb. I chose them for their dimensions and comfort.

I have always had a particular fondness for the Bird chair and Bertoia in general. I love the aesthetic and it's placement would allow it to be viewed from the back. I also like its slight rocking capability ....

The Grasshopper is one of the easiest modern lounges to get out of. It isn't as iconic but it is extremely handsome and comfortable.

Opinions? Any others with a similar scale that I haven't thought of?

the bird eats the hopper
Honestly, I think the bird for general use, the hoppper is not all that comfortable.

Womb chair
I vote for neither. Try a womb chair. I a really loving mine. Comfortable, cozy and room for a kitty or two.

I like the womb a bunch, but it doesn't work for my interior.

Really like the aesthetic of the bird from all vantage points and it's pretty comfortable but it's hell to get out of especially if you're a bit older and perhaps a bit portly...

I actually think the grasshopper is extremely comfortable. It has been awhile since I have used a bird, and the vintage ones sit differently than the new ones slightly.

I won't even mention the womb chair since you mentioned it doesn't fir your scheme 😉
In reference to the bird and 'hopper chairs, I think both are very comfortable. I personally like the aesthetics of the bird chair more. However, more than the 'look' of the chair should be taken into account. If you are older, have arthritic knees, are over-weight, etc, then the bird chair will be more difficult to get out of so I would go with the 'hopper chair. If these are not problems, then go with the bird chair. You seem to really like that chair more than the 'hopper anyway, and it happens to be one of my top three fave mid-century modern chair designs.

I have both...
I have both of these in my collection and use them on a daily basis. The bird chair is comfortable because of its slight rocking ability but really does need the ottoman for max comfort. As for the grasshop, this is my favorite, the arms relate well to the pitch of the chair and I've fallen asleep several times in my vintage example. If you go for the grasshop its best to find a vintage example as the edges of the armrests are softened/rounded over time from use. The new Modernica versions can be a bit sharp.
