It is one of so many badly designed products, made to look like a well designed cousin. Just to have to see the way the vertical tubes are sqeezed in between two flat bars of the base would make me sick every morning. Steel, as most metals can be re-cycled to the same quality so that's what I would do with this one.

Dumpster Diving
Circa 1998 we were driving around the south of market area in SF and saw the leg sticking out of a dumpster in a BofA branch parking lot. It had a beat up top of wood-grain formica on particle board. Looked like those tables you stand at to fill out your deposit slips on. The whole base is a single piece of aluminum. Makes a perfect kitchen island.
