There is a rather generic style of lamp that I am somewhat enamoured with, in part because my father used to have one. At some point my mother threw it out because it 'stopped working' which is very annoying! I am trying to track it down or otherwise find a more precise identification of the style beyond how I have done in the thread title.
The nearest object I can find on the internet that represents its likeness is this

I have just screencapped a photo of the actual lamp that was my fathers. As you can see it is a very elegant lamp with a long "neck". Does anybody recognise the designer? It had a square base with a white button.
Banker's Lamp?
Maybe "banker's lamp", but they existed long before the 60s/70s. Here's a Google Image search that'll show a few thousand of them:
