One of the most commonly (at least in the U.S.) used object, and widely hated as well, is the lowly spork (fork and spoon in one). I saw it in a period publication years ago. It was part of a sterling silver flatware set designed by Gio Ponti. It was called a fork/spoon. With my weird sense of humor, The absurdity of it's slide into popular culture from such a classy start almost single handedly fueled my early interest in modern design. What have you got?

Wouldn't be surprised if Glass is fuming over our lack of gravitas. I'm trying to recall a few more. Too late and I'm off to bed.
Oh...one more incomplete one someone else can finish (correct). Wegners Ox chair was a result of a friendly feud between Jacobsen (someone else?) and Himself?
Didn't Philip Johnson have...
Didn't Philip Johnson have to do some embarrasing retraction about his enthusiasm for the Nazis? There was an interview with him at Seagram I think where he freaked out. I can't remember the details but it was kinda funny...all those smartly dressed boys. Anyone know?
